Elcon Cleon Build For DDM Booth @ RCX
I was lucky enough to be asked by DDM to build an Elcon Cleon for their booth at the RCX Show in Pomona CA. Since not everyone can attend I thought I would post some pictures of the build. I was in charge of the assembly of the rolling chassis and have no ideal how the body is going to be painted so I will not see the finished product until RCX. I will be sure to take some more pictures of the Cleon when I attend the show, so everyone can see it with what I am sure is going to be a killer paint job.
I took quite a few pics, it’s not everyday you get to put one of these together. I was really impressed with the quality of the Cleon. The sad part is I have to give it back, it’s like Santa coming by on Christmas morning and taking back all the presents you just opened. I definitely see a Cleon in my future though.

They are very light buggies designed for racing and performance. I just weighed mine and it's 24lbs. This is with 1 5745 and 2 5645 servos and the front air brakes. My 4600 pack is heavy and you can always use lipos or AA's which many of the European racers do.
One of the best builds I've ever done!! Right now there are only 4 Elcon Cleons in North America.
Not sure which engine you or DDM puts in there but if it's a CY, the fan shroud has to be a zen otherwise the chassis hole will not line up.

My Lauterbacher Supercross L3 was around 26lbs even with it being all aluminum which is stock, front hydros and a Tonegawa steering servo.

You lucky guy, I would have more tan gladly put together a kit like this just to see what's it it!
I can vouch for Elcon, the few Elcon parts that I have are more than up to par than even FG parts. I totally love their clutches, and their helical cut gears are a step above as well!

But you have the privlage of actually building an entire Cleon RC!!!!
Man, am I jealous

Oh year, when I got those white teflon shoes in, I slapped them in and they grip like glue! And I didnt even have to do much to refurb the CB either, just a bit of sanding on the inside diameter, simply slapping in the Elcon clutch with the new shoes, and WHAM! it takes off nicely!
Here is its current set-up with the shoes dialed in to 075turns in on the setscrews

LOL, I can imagine how you feel, trying to convince you significant other to get another RC, and high quality high dollar one at that!
As for the finished product, is it okay for you to post up some pics? Or do we have to wait until DDM says its okay for you to do so? (Ask Ryan if you can do like a sneak peek or a teaser pic!)

RE: Elcon Cleon Build For DDM Booth @ RCX
that's awsome buddy, are they paying you to build it for them ? who gets to keep it after its done ? i think they should sell it to you for practically peanuts since your putting it together as an option for you if you want to buy it from them after its done . elcon make really nice alloy parts .

Some more, finishing up gear plate and installing the diff. The diff comes completely assembled so it is just a matter of dropping it in.

RE: Elcon Cleon Build For DDM Booth @ RCX
These are of the rear shock tower and the diff brake. I really like the design of the diff brake. I have an all Elcon alloy FG Leopard with an Elcon diff brake set up, but I like the design of the Cleon diff brake much better.
