As the only distributor for Elcon in North America they should have at least one buggy. Hopefully after the show people will order some in.

Seeing the second round of pics you posted, I am utterly amazed just how everything is designed to lower the CM as close to the ground as possible. That, in addition to the spectacular looks of the quality parts totally amazes me.

Selwa, does this buggy have that great handling like it does in your vids? I mean to your feel as you drive it around that is. This thing looks like it is really meant for the trank and superior handling!

This buggy is handles like it's on rails. Another Cleon owner from Norway has just begun driving his and he says the same thing. Those of us who have driven some nice buggies out there know the difference. It's drivetrain is sooo smooth!! Plus the suspension's like a 1/8 buggy.

LOL, then, like Pwaicon, I am bitten by this RC also! Though I have only had bits and pieces of Elcon parts I use on my RCs, I too want to experience and feel a whole Elcon RC in person.

Well, let the saving begin...at least for SavageJim

Pwaicon, keep up the good work, I want to see how yours looks when it is al together!

This is killing me!! On the up side I got to put the Cleon together and on the down side I don’t get to drive it. That is like a Honeymoon without, well you get the ideal.

Here are some more pics of the rear being put together.

I can only imagine! The thrill of putting together an RC kit is firing it up for the very first time!
I definitely feel for you.

Those ball CVD shafts...brings back memories of when I was putting my comp FG together! Good times!

I am with you on that, the FG was definitely a great build for me also.

Here are the last of the build pics, at least on my end. I have no ideal what paint scheme they are doing for the body, wing, and side skirts, I look forward to seeing the end result at RCX. I will be sure to take some pics of the finished Cleon when I attend RCX this weekend.

Looking good! Would like to see it in person. I am sure they are not going to run it much before the show but would like to see a video of it.

Absoluetely! If they actually fire it up and run it at RCX, Please, vid it and post it!

I am amazed at how Elcon left no stone unturned and how the scrutinized to perfect every minute detail. This is definitely a beautiful machine.
As for that Zen, is that a 23cc? 26cc? Modded?

If I am not mistake all you can race over seas is a 23cc. What does the Elcon Cleon kit cost in US dollars?

23cc is limited displacement by rules? I though that would be for on-road and 26cc would be the limited displacement for off road. Wouldnt the Cleon fall under off-road since it is a buggy and therefore be allowed the 26cc displacement?

The Cleon doesn’t come with an engine, but DDM sent a Zenoah G270RC (4 bolt 26cc) to install for the show. I highly doubt they will run the Cleon, it will not have the electronics installed at least that is my understanding.

As for the U.S. price of the Cleon I am not sure. I know they are an order item, I believe DDM does not stock them. The best thing to do is call or email DDM for a price quote.

Off road uses 26CC. Here are some of the rules they use:

Racing Classes,

There will be two vehicle classes, Standard class for 2 Wheel drive buggy's up to 26cc and an Outlaw class for four wheel drive ,monster and outsized cars up to 30cc engine capacity.

Both vehicle classes will have their own heats and finals with trophies only being awarded if there are more than 8 entries in the respective class.

A Junior class will be run for those under 16 within the standard class and will be run as the National class is now with trophies presented for the first 3 places

Driver Classification

There will be 3 levels of Drivers, National, Junior and Super national. The Super national level includes all drivers; the National level excludes the top 20 Drivers from the previous year.

All drivers are awarded super national points, with super national drivers excluded from receiving national points. The committee can vote a driver in to super national class according to there ability

Construction
Most regulations will be applied as per the General Large Scale Rules.

Bumpers will be mandatory at the front and optional at the rear.

Only fuel available at Roadside Service Stations to be used. No Boost bottles allowed. The manufacturers Kill Switch must be made easy to both access and operate, access provided if necessary, by cutting a hole in the bodywork. A Standard Cut-out switch marker(available from the scrutineer if needed) to be affixed to the body shell within 1 inch of the location of the switch. All cars will be tested if there kill switch works on the start line. If not the car will not be allowed to run in that heat or final. The Exhaust system to be mounted such that the Manifold does not protrude further forward than the front window post and the system must run as close to the body as possible. Stingers must not be mounted transversely(across)the underside of the rear wing. Forward routed exhaust systems must not protrude from any forward facing part of the body shell.

Un-silenced or “open” exhausts will not be aloud regardless of location.

The following Specific rules were passed for Section use:

Two wheel drive class, up to a max of 26cc engines will be permitted.

The maximum width of any part of the car, measured with the chassis pushed fully to the ground, will be 480mm. The maximum length of car from front bumper to rear of wing is 820mm
Height max 360mm fully compressed Weight min 8000grams

Outlaw class,

The four wheel drive ,monster and outsized cars may use up to 30cc engines.

Other restrictions will be relaxed.

Remember safety is paramount.

The Scrutineer's decision will be final.

Transponders,

to be fitted in such a way as to keep them as free from damage as possible Preferred to be inside the car as close to the ground as possible SPECIAL NOTE:

Carbon fibre, There are to be no exposed carbon fibre i.e. body , wings , carbon fibre or any GRP (glass reinforced plastics) these materials may only be used under the body shell. Wings must not be made from metal. Tyre additives are aloud but must not be added in the pit lane area.

Scruntinerring will be on a random basis, with a Size box, being provided to allow drivers to check their vehicle dimensions.

Any driver or Marshal can ask for a particular car to be checked, if there are grounds for suspecting its conformity to the rules.

Marshalling
The Scrutineer will not carry out any Marshalling duties. Nobody under 16 years old to Marshal. Marshals must wear High Visibility Reflective Vests or jackets. Marshals to be advised to wear Stout Shoes or Boots and wear Heavy duty Gloves and safety glasses. If a cars engine has stopped ,the car must be taken off the track ,the marshal is allowed 3 pulls at the starter and that is all ,if the car does not start ,he must return to marshalling immediately ,no other fixes or repairs on the track.

It is the drivers responsibility to recover there vehicle and in doing so they must not take their radio transmitter onto the track, it must be left within the parc ferme\rostrum area whilst recovering there vehicle.

Whilst marshalling drivers are reminded that there should be no smoking, drinking, use of mobile phones or cameras trackside.

Around $2500US without engine and electronics, plus shipping. Right now your best bet it to order overseas if you want one. It will take some time to get through DDM eitherway. They are made in the Neitherlands. As for as videos, I've got a few under JSELWA in youtube right now. You can PM me if you want one and I'll give you a few contacts in Europe.

Does the v traction rear come standard, or is it an upgrade.

I am not sure, but I think every thing in the pics Pwaicon posted are what is included in the Cleon kit, well, minus the engine of course!

Selwa or Pwaicon, please confirm if this is correct.

That is correct SAVAGEJIM. Everything in the pics, including the V track rear, is what was shipped in the box except for the engine. It also comes with a body, wing, and side skirts but they were at the painters I didn’t have them. I am going to RCX tomorrow and will be sure to get some pictures of the Cleon all dressed up.

OMG, I cant wait now! I also want to see how the painters did your shell up and all!

The looks of this RC is amazing, and readng this and Selwa's thread to convince me to begin saving up for one of these pretty puppies! Hopefully by early next year I will have enough saved up to order one.
Now I will just have to choose and engine in the interim.

I believe the V traction is now in the kits. When I bought mine it was right before the release and they sent them out to us at N/C It's designed for wet surfaces since many Euro tracks are that way. I'm using the old setup until something goes on it for now.
