RE: Baja 5T clone now avaliable
how come there is no clone of the FG MT or MCD MT or is it the FS trucks ? it took them a long time to get the 5b clones to the standards they are today , id be cautious of the 5T clone for a while .

RE: Baja 5T clone now avaliable
Most of the problems have been ironed out ,5B and 5T share 90% the same parts, all that different are the side gards, bumper, towers, wheels ,Body and a different diff ratio .
I recon they may be a good buy .

The dual belt drive looks very well done to me, and tucked well out the way from any possible harm. That said the drive line on any 4WD is never efficient and that thing especially (the price for so many pulleys and tensioners) its got to loose about 30% through the drive line alone.

Looks like some one who repairs vaccum cleaners converted it to 4x4. I could immagine how in efficient that drive is, those belts need to be a little tight. I don't know. I am curious to see one go though.

back in the day , i had a schumacher cat that i spent my hard saved money for, spent hours assembling it. on the first run in a parking lot the belts gave and destroyed the pulleys.the end result was it cost more to repair it than it did to buy it. since then anything belt driven has left an uneasy feeling with me.

The concern I have is that it's on a Baja 5b type chassis that was never designed or balanced to be 4wd (it's a pure rear wheel drive beach buggy, long nose, wide stance, heavy rear (for rear traction) and light front, to bounce over the dunes and bumps). It's like saying 'I want an orange, but I only have lemons. I know, I'll paint a lemon orange.'; it looks like an orange, but under the skin it's still a lemon. If it was that easy, the kamitiro kits wouldn't have sucked like a $10... Anyway, we'll see, I could be completely wrong, I'm just surprised, given that they had the know-how to develop a 4wd system, they didn't have the know-how (or inclination) to develop a specifically designed platform to put it on.
