Nutech Thunderbolt 2 in the dirt at last and on video.
You'll very quickly realise from the video... This is by far the easiest to control, best handling RC I've ever had in my 22 years in the hobby. It just goes where you point it, no questions asked... Anyway, this is an early production, the review vid will be more refined and is being worked on. In the meantime, this should finally give you guys a good idea how well it drives.
The weather was very hot compared to the last time I ran it, and the engine could do with some more fine tuning, howeverm, it is a 4wd with a can style pipe, that's why the performance is not exactly spectacular, it's pretty nippy though, and fantastic fun. When my cameraman had a go, the first thing he said 'OMG, it handles so much better than the Baja!', well, yeh it is 4wd, but that's still no small compliment.
I don't know why the frame rate drops at the end. Youtube I guess.
HIGH QUALITY and FULL SCREEN!

And here're some of the action photos from that run (I took the photos, DIABLOTAC drove the car).

RE: Nutech Thunderbolt 2 in the dirt at last and on video.
very very good video man.
i liked that a lot,the locals must have thought there was a hurricane near by with all the dust
it looks tough doesnt it,you gave it a right old bashing.....
i noticed it a little sluggish at the start but around half way through the vid you took off the body and it went like a bullet,i see the same with my own the cooler you can keep that engine the better they will run. you gave it a little tuning also i see half way through.
over all it looks tough i think.
the gear ratio seems to be a good match for low/high rpm,any idea what it is?

Honestly no, except DC2 man is right, the engine was performing inconsistently. I put it down the heat, and the fact that after the first 20 seconds, the filter was rammed with dust. I also think the tank could do with better venting, but as for the way it drives and holds up to a good smack, no drawbacks whatsoever. And this is BOX STOCK. I haven't even changed the suspension geometry, or put my own oils in the diffs/shocks.
It's a complete riot.

YEAH THANKS FOR THE VID FOXY 1 I myself was wondering how well the air filter was holding up because you had it pretty dusty out there. But you say after the first 20min it was history??? Is it a single stage or dual stage air filter. Any pics of the filter off the buggy. Thanks

No, what I mean was it was full of dust after only a few seconds, no doubt choking the engine a bit. It was still filtering right to the end of the run though, no problem. It's a dual stage.

Thats one nice looking buggy.
Im most likely wrong, but it looks like the front right hand shock is leaking? judging by the way the dust has stuck to that particular region of the car

Lol, well spotted. It didn't leak, it EXPLODED.
This is one of the things that has been changed in the production model, and why so much testing has been done (and also why I didn't mention it, since it won't happen on any models except the prototypes). My sample has plastic end caps on all the shocks, and one of the rears has blown out before as well. The production models have alloy end caps now, and the problem is solved, but I don't have the new caps yet to put on my car (Chris?? ). The front shock blew off its bottom cap in one of those crashes, don't know which, was ages before I noticed it myself.
Ran it for half the day with no oil in that shock, and honestly couldn't tell the difference. The shocks do not leak, they have a double o-ring system in each one which works well, not like the old titan ones.

Foxy,
Will send you metal cap later , dual exhaust pipe, maybe also a 3 shoe clutch if the sample is in time.

when will these cars be available for purchase. The only thing concerns me is the replacement parts and who will carry them. Looks like a great basher....

Parts supply should not be an issue. I've heard that Nutech is insisting that distributors to take a specific number of parts per car. US distributor will be announced very soon we keep hearing. I would expect all your favourite 1/5th scale outlets will be stocking it, they'd be mad not to. It is, as you say, an outstanding basher, BUT, I think this car's destiny lies in racing, you could go around ANY track on the throttle the whole time, and just counter steering, it's that easy to drive). The suspension articulation is just amazing (you can really see it on the video when I come over that rise on two wheels, and the car settles again, also afte the first crash where it lands on the wheels) great shocks for an RTR, just as good as HPIs.

Great snapshots Foxy
The epic ones : No 1,5,7,17 and especially No 18
Damn mate,I'm drooling.
That buggy handles superb, seems to be a well balanced jumper(Nutech video release),looks awesome in any aspect, comes with a decent 2.4GHz radio,problems/issues/suggestions already addressed by manufacturer, can anyone ask more than that(out of the box) ?
If it'll be prooved to be a basher,I'll definitely get my hands on it [8D]

Thanks dimag, it's such a shame I couldn't take the ramp with me. My girlfriend's car is in the shop right now, and I can't get the ramp in an S2000 obviously! lol. That mound was a disaster, just totally the wrong shape for jumping, hence the multiple turnovers.
As for bashing... That hit at the end where I wrote 'Oops' on the video, was a REALLY hard hit, I was sure I would have hurt something badly, but the whole day not a thing went wrong, except that front shock blowing out, which as we said, won't ahppen on the production models.
