Yep, this is the big disappointment on the mielke pipe. Not only is the plastic coupler stiff and not rubbery at all (leaks), but after a few runs in hot weather, it will melt. Go to an auto store and get reinforced radiator hosing, get a meter of it, it's useful stuff. Get the highest quality one they have.

On the subject of the mielke pipe, does anybody have any good mounting suggestions? I used steel wire, and that worked ok but it's still not great.

It depends on the RC you are mounting it on. If the mounts do not match up, I'm afraid to say that the only proper way to make it proper is to do some fab work (if its minor, a Dremel will make the hole larger or at least oval in the right direction. If its a total mismatch, it will require much more fab work, l;ike creating brackets.)

You just need a right angle bracket, which will need some dremelling. I'd stick with the stiff wire if I was you. I never liked those ghetto mounts that people did, and had no problem rebending the wire every run.
