Battery Adapter?
I want to run a 7.2V battery pack in my FG Monster Truck and I need to know what kind of adapter I need and where I can get it. I saw these in a local hobbyshop one time that has since gone out of business. Thanks in advance.

RE: Battery Adapter?
Not a good idea, why do you need a 7.2v battery? If your looking for longer run time you need a bigger mah battery, the 7.2v will destroy your Rx[]

Agreed.. try a 3000+ mah battery but do not go higher then the recommended 6.0v or it will fry.. this place has some great batteries

I ran a 6v 3300 pack in my Firehammer without any issues..pretty much the same as the FG, and I was running the Futaba HT-Mg servos for steering/throttle also..is your pack getting a full charge every time?

RE: Battery Adapter?
If you are looking for a lighter battery that holds there voltage till the end of the charge check out a LIFE battery. No regulator needed and safer then then LIPO. You will have to have a charger made for LIFE batteries. Not sure this one will fit but to give you an idea.

RE: Battery Adapter?
I’m using hitec servos in my truck. The streering servo is a digital giant scale with about 250oz of torgue and the throttle / brake servo is an analog ultra speed Coreless Motor with about 132oz of torque. Are these the correct servos I should be using? I just wanted more volts because I thought this 250oz giant servo would turn my wheels from left lock to right lock with the truck not moving but they want not even on a full charge. I am using a spectrum dx 2.0 radio and not meaning to bash anyone but a so called rc specialist at a hobbyshop told me it would be ok running 7.2 volts through it, glad I didn't do it. I don't like the smell of melting plastic.

RE: Battery Adapter?
I run a digital Rhino Digi 4 that has 354 ounces of torque and a A&E digital brake throttle servo with over 200oz of torque. I have a 4200 NHM 6 volt battery in my HPI 5b SS. works well. I will be changing to the LIFE battery before it is all over. I recommend you make sure your RX and servos will handle that amount of voltage if you go that high.
Can you set the Spektrum to run two different types of servos one digital and one analog? I am guessing if you are running a 2 channel radio you are not running a kill switch. Not a good idea to run with out one.

RE: Battery Adapter?
46u I'm using the fail safe that is built into the radio is that the same thing as a seperate fail safe? I'm not going to do the 7.2 volt thing i think it will fry something. As for the radio needing to be set to run digital or analog servos all I know is they both work if there is a setting for this i didn't know about it maybe someone can help me out on that as well.

I have a failsafe. Why do I need a kill switch?
A: A failsafe is certainly a good thing to have, and I recommend that you use a failsafe. The more protection, the better. But a failsafe alone is just not good enough. With a failsafe you still have many loopholes that can cause a runaway. The receiver can fail, the battery can die, the servo can go bad, the throttle linkage can bind or become loose, the carburetor can freeze. In those instances a failsafe will not stop your 30 pound large scale R/C vehicle from running away and causing major damage. When you add a Killer Bee kill switch you have a “watchdog†that will not let your engine run unless it senses that there is a good radio signal at all times. You can also manually kill your engine at any time if you see that something is wrong with your R/C. It is also very convenient to have a kill switch for engine tuning, checking spark plug color at high RPMs. And it’s just nice to be able to pull your R/C into the pit and kill the engine via the transmitter, and not have to reach down and press the kill button.
Note: On Spektrum brand radios it is very important that you reset the built-in failsafe after you install a kill switch. Because of how the Spektrum radios work the kill switch needs the failsafe to be set in order to kill the engine if you loose radio signal. For most newer Spektrum radios just rebind the receiver and transmitter, and hold the aux channel button in the off position during the failsafe resetting mode.

RE: Battery Adapter?
One other thing on the DX2.0 the failsafe does not work if you have a low RX battery. I know from experience about the Spektrums. I use to run a DX 3 until I got my React about 3 years ago.

RE: Battery Adapter?
I always ran digital servos so not sure if you can set them separate on the DX2.0. I know some radios like the Futaba PM you cannot which means you have to run both the same or you can mess up one of your servos. Should say in the DX2.0 manual.

RE: Battery Adapter?
My mistake my radio is a dx3.0. I like the remote kill switch idea. I have a homemade exhaust system and it obstructs the kill switch on the engine a little. I thought the radio failsafe was all I needed I will be looking for a kill switch now.

However, I do not know if there are RXs capable of taking 7.4V yet. To get 7.4V safely to you RX and servos that are max rated for 6V, you will need a BEC to power down the V to 6V. That is if your RX and/or batt do not have built-in BECs.
Castel Creations makes most BECs; these are quality units:

Now, if you want to push 7.4V or even 7.2V into your servos (well, because your servos are designed to take 7.4V), but you RX cannot take 6V, you will need a wiring harness so your RXX gets only 6V bot your servos get 7.2 or 7.4V:

RE: Battery Adapter?
This is the link I posted before it has both the LIFE battery (not sure it will fit your radio box) and the best kill switches on the market.
