RE: New Project
Cheers.
The main reason for doing this is because the grinder has a readuction of just over 6:1 so there's no need for further gears or sprocket/chain.
Seems to be a rare breed of grinder as most of the ones I've come across have a 4:1 reduction or thereabouts.

RE: New Project
Ok here we go.
After days and days and days of trying to construct a decent wheel hub for the rear, I finally almost went nuts....
Lots of good ideas but all too big, heavy and bulky.
That's ok though, I can use some of those ideas on the giant build.
So instead I started working on the rear A-arms.
8mm and 10mm steel rods.
Lots and lots of lathe work involved in making these, and it seemed to be never ending.
Turned out pretty good in the end though.
Still a bit more to do on them, but you get the idea.

RE: New Project
Ah I think I know what you mean.
You're talking about these aren't you?
No I lined then up with the end brace and welded them on like that.
I SHOULD have done what you're talking about though and put an axle through them to keep them in line.

RE: New Project
Thanks guys.
It feels like I'm getting somewhere now with this car.
The hubs nearly drove me around the bend.
Days and days and days of building stuff that just didn't work and was too big and heavy and just no good at all.
This seems to work and they're pretty light too.

RE: New Project
Both sides done, sort of.
Not quite right so gonna have to come off again.
The arms themselves are ok but the mounts are a bit out of whack.
Easily fixed though.
Is it a bit too wide perhaps?
Shouldn't tip over in a hurry anyway.

RE: New Project
A couple of mock-up pics.
Pretty wide for its length but it's kinda cool I reckon.
Easy enough to cut it in half and lengthen it a bit if need be.

RE: New Project
Dirty
great build keep it up
I think it was your first build you mentioned bolts vibrating loose.
Any of you guys rode old british bikes, you'll know stuff shakes loose all the time.
Old timer who flat tracked triumphs clued me in to a cheap fix.
After tightening them up, paint with enamel/finger nail polish/carpenters glue.
Some times I just smear silicone sealant.
