Ice studs will work so much better. The chains may not last as long as you think.

Agreed, the chains will blow off within seconds. Screw some 1/4'' screws into the rubber. Here is my Fg. Now I can confirm that this works very good.

On a side note, I am actually studding a pair of baja tires. Is there any secret to getting the best traction with studs? Clubin, I see you did three rows, one in the middle and one on each edge. Is that the way to do it, or is it just the more studs the better?

Looks good! Just throwing some ideas, I noticed you used rubber bands to hold them on the tires, maybe if you use metal wire wouldhold its shape better ?Also if you make the radius of the 2 circular chains on each side of the tire smaller than the tire, it would probably stay more centered as the 2 circles would be too small to move over the tire. Then you could use the rubber bands to add some tension and keep it all tight.
kind of like this, but this is without any rubber bands:

That's a good idea. I might just do that. I like how it looks in the picture, and I bet it would work great. What you see in my pictures is just version 1. I was just feeling it out. I'll post up version 2 once I get around to redoing the chains. Maybe I'll do a vid too.

Version 2
I modeled my second attempt at chained tires after the photo above ^^. I haven't tested them yet, but I am optimistic that they will stay in place better than the first version. I still used rubber bands on the outside of the tires. The rubber bands are probably unnecessary, but I kept them on there to add a little more tension on the chains.
