New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
Just thought I'd post up some pictures of our new Clear Extreme Race Chassis made for FG models, it is pictured next to a lightened FG stock chassis and to give you an idea, it weighs half the amount of our lightened FG version.
The material used to make these, is the exact same material that is used to make windows in airplanes, it is extremely weightless and industructable.
These plates are 6mm thick.
Just a note: the sole purpose these were developed for was racing.
We will get some completed pics up soon
Thanks

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
man are you for real?
load on some alloy on that and it would snap with a few jumps,im serious....the stock fg chassis is week enough.
for an offroad/onroad with that much slots on chassis you would need thicker chassis to compitition level like my fg evo.
just my 2cents

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
Fist off, we use these chassis for onroad racing, guess I should have been a bit more specific, but we have also jumped dirt ramps with no problem.
The material used will not break, but it will flex abit, we have set up a number of onroad cars using the 535mm design as well.
These plates are much stronger then you would expect.
Dont get the wrong idea, im not selling these to the public, these are for a bunch of local guys here that we race with.
Anyone that knows us can tell you, we go to the extreme to get these machines to go as fast as possible in the shortest possible time.
Currently our cars are running 76mph in 4.3 seconds and trimming away some fat is part of what we need to do to get those types of numbers.

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
well now you got a nice idea.
for onroad it would be very nice.....
actually the onroad comp style chassis on the evo are probably heavier than those but less flex.
im sure flex wouldnt bother you if its outright speed you want to obtain

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
You get as much flex as you would if you spent the $450 for the FG carbon fiber chassis plate.
We have used these are course tracks and they work extremely well, no problems at all, would I jump 8 foot high dirt piles with this plate??? NO, do I think it would snap if I did??? NO.
So the next question would be, do I go in dirt at all????? again, I'd have to say ....NO lol
This coming season will be our first organized large scale drag racing and High speed challenge set of events, if you check our home web site, you will find the club banner, clicking that will give you the opportunity to read up more about it.
No schedule has been released as of yet, but soon we will have the dates which will list each type of event for that date.
Thanks

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
If you own one of these chassis plates from CARBOTEC for FG, you would know they are 4.5mm thick and produce as much flex as these plates.
I have both here, jiberish would mean I don't know what Im talking about, be careful about what you say, you may eat your words.
And to answer your respons before, YES the Evo chassis weight almost double a standard sportline chassis, don't let the cut outs fool you, its 8mm thick.

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
man i have all three myself,i got the carbon chassis ages ago and never used it,but its defo stronger and has less flex than stock, and also obviously much lighter. (hence the wild price tag)
the best i have had is the evo/comp chassis

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
The evo chassis plate is way to heavy for me for what we need, most guys use stock plates and cut them out as seen in the first pic.
Also just so you know the pics posted is of a 465mm marder chassis plate, which most of us guys use for drag racing.

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
When you say "same material for airplanes" I assume that you mean military grade Plexiglas. Because if you use the more cheaper plexi on like Cessna and other private/small airplanes, the material is significantly less.
I know for a fact that military grade Plexiglas, used even in the days of WW2 propeller fighter and bomber planes, were capable of stopping a few small calibre bullets (I believe they were designed to defeat a few rounds of 7mm) thus the reason why most airplanes started using no less than .50in (12.5mm) caliber BMG rounds and larger (even 30mm).
So, if the plexi for this chassis is the same American made material, I have no doubts that it can take some abuse yet remain very light.

RE: New Extreme Race chassis for FG models
Hey Jim, It's technically Makrolon.....
This is a unbreakable, light weight material, bullet proof?? not at 6mm I don't think so, probably more so at 12mm+
Thanks

No we do not make any carbon parts at all, but Joe does, he has supplied us with tons of parts you cant find anywhere, he makes some nice stuff.
He never had a website until now, not sure when it will be complete, but he will have tons of carbon stuff plus other goodies for us!
www.bigrcparts.com I spoke with him last week, he should have stuff on there soon.

That servo is a MG755 Hitec, but it has the BRCP Alloy servo cover on it.
The cover fits a few different servos like the 705,755, 5745 and a few others, it comes in Red, Silver and Blue anodized.
Thanks for the comments.

If the radio plate was plastic, you'd have a killer jellyfish!!!
Go on, do a clear body, too! Just colour the window frames and lights, that would look too wierd....
Nice machine man
