Which ever one is chosen by the consumer I feel the end product will make them happy.

I made more holes in mine and used my broken hex driver as pins. The second gear carrier lasts a while now.
It is holding up great for me in my FG and my FG is no slug either.
Drill press and four pins has worked for me!

I still use 3mm pins. Same as stock. They seem to work well for me.
I also have tried roll pins in it. That worked well and iseasy to fix at the track. I used one roll pin inside another roll pin. It is strong yet slightly more forgiving on the pawl

I agree & definitely hope so. I do hate watching a product be tortured before it ever hits the market on either side. The 2 speed theory is definitely possible, & most of us already understand that FG has had that option for Many years. With the many conditions this unit will see, by being adapted to the HPI baja so to speak, I know that many wonder how continued good shifting performance will be. There are some very high powered cars out there now & Sand is a killer for mechanisms. With personal experience with a Very high powered FG Drag racing 2 speed, the stock hubs had to be modified to keep them together. We proved that you would get approximately 4-5 good shifts & it would rip the stock pins right out of the 2nd gear hub. There is no doubt a huge want for a 2 speed for the HPI & we definitely hope to see one very soon.

Knock the stock pin out in the FG 2nd gear hub. Drill the hole & tap to 4mm. Drill same hole 180deg & repeat the process. Use 2 4mm good quality screws & locktite them in. The heads of even cap screws are almost O.K., but need a bit of head clearance, because of the sides of the hub. If you get this right the bolts will actually grab the side walls of the hub as well, making it even stronger. You'll see the tap cutting small amounts of threads in the sides as it comes through, No big deal if it doesn't. This was on on Very mean TS Leopard & it would pull the wheels shifting into 2nd at about 35m.p.h.. Without the mod. it would trash the stock pin in about 3 shifts, literally ripping it out. Give it a shot, I've seen it work first hand
Sorry to bring the FG discussion into the HPI 2speed thread. Back on track ...

Here are the "BigRcParts" 2 speed with the sleeve so customers don't have to buy the "TR Racing System" inorder to run a 2 speed. These sleeves a harden steel sleeves that will never wear, and they are designed to go in the middle of the big bearing on the "TR Racing System"

Well I got my 6 today too!
Looks like our first race on Sunday will have atleast a few HPI Baja's running the 2 speeds, staging along side the FG's, should be interesting......

O Yeah this 2 speed by BRCP (BIG RC PARTS) kicks A SS.went for a run today and it done 110kmh on a radar gun (not sure of brand) with no pobs at all. Install was simple and went together well. 3.5 turns in from flush was a good setting but will try a bit more tomorrow.
If you want a 2 speed this is the one, its a good price and its works very well also easy to adjust.
Gears are 1st 20-54 and 2nd is 24-50.
Motor is a TS reed motor with a ESP 27.2 reed port head with more port work done by me. It has no probs pulling these gear at all.
