RE: 2 Speed Gear box for HPI
Heres a few pic's of the 2 speed after near 2 tanks floging it on grass/dirt and a bit off road also doing some small jumps and giving it a good bashing. Vid to come soon (need some one to video it all) have some on my phone and a mates but not sure how to upload it..
All up no wear on any parts, slight shine on the pins but no groove on them.
Gear mesh is a good mesh.Only mod i done was put a washer between the pinons to get a perfect line up with the out side gear and a 0.6mm shim near the shift mechanisn to get a perfect fit with just the right amount of play and clearance. These were not needed but this made it perfect.
I made up a cover up for it and its turning out very easy and will work very well. (anyone want more info on this can let me know).
one pin.
2nd pin.
3rd pin.
no wear on gears and mesh is good/smooth.
pinons with no wear.
shift mech with no wear.
Gear cover.

I believe the pins are going to be a wear idem on both designs for the 1/5 scale 2 speed. It will be interesting how long they last on both designs before needing replacment. Mazda how hard is it to replace the pins on your 2 speed??

So easy 5 min max and thats inc pulling the 2 speed apart to get to them. Hammer and a pin punch or a bit of steel that will fit. Roll/spring Pins are avalable from almost anywere and very cheap (around $4 to $6 for all of them).

That will depend on the chosen gearing. Each gear-up combo will add 3-4 mph

Hey Mazda, they look like what's called a spiral pin. I use 'em in my hand tools for steel strapping. Sometimes a solid pin or a dowel pin (or even a shoulder screw) is tougher, depends on what you want to wear out first. Either way, beats a roll pin any day. Looks tough!
liking the plastic cover, too. Good idea. Have a good weekend mate[8D]

Heres more of the gear cover and the parts used to make it all work. 1st you will need the stock gear cover
and a bit of plastic 2mm thick and around 38cm long and 26mm wide.. Make the tube over 38 cm lomg and cut to suit gear cover mod when done glueing.
parts below.

Using anuther gear cover will not work, it not wide enuff and the holes are in the way.
Around the end to seal just like you can see in the pic!.

2 speed still going hard only had a change in the setting but seems to be sorted soon. Have a Bajaskunkworks 2-Speed on its way to compare the two should be here next week with a few other goodies.

RE: 2 Speed Gear box for HPI
Since last report i'v been waiting on parts to fix the 2 speed and been stuffed around for months now its a joke.
I am not the only one having the same problem with the shift mech. Custermer service is very poor, they take weeks to get back to you and say some things being done but nothing happens.
I know for sure 100% if there was a problem with a Bajaskunkworks 2-Speed the problem would be fixed with in a week.

Here is another option for a 2 speed from Rovan. In US, In Stock and ready to ship next day.
I installed it on my buggy and ran it. Will post videos soon.
