And if he did Mudgy; crazy. Madness. Almost not pityful for what happened. This could have happen with any charger too, cheap or high class.

It looks like you got the plugs on the recharger the wrong way around which in turn shorted your batteries when you started charging..
I reckon the fault is yours are not the chargers.......

cheap chargers will definitely do that. prime example why I don't trust charging a battery inside the vehicle, shame on the engineers for encouraging it

I've had problems with Duratrax chargers... ick. True story... ordered an intellipeak and plugged it in, charger starts vibrating across the table. They wouldn't warranty it... stupid TLP chargers... yeah, Intellipeaks are manufactured by TLP. I've also had a few planes crash due to false full charges. I don't trust their chargers for anything... same with the Onyx line. My stepdad lost a plane to that thing. We've gone through the debate on if it was us or chargers fault, but after pulling out the volt meter and comparing it to what the charger said it put into it... charger went bye bye.

I always charge my batteries in situ...they're usuall buried deep within my rc's, most of the time stuck down with 3M trim tape so aint coming out in a hurry, never had a problem...i did leave a switch on once and fried my servos so always check connections etc carefully before i start.

looks like this was a case of incorrect polarity, wall chargers are so weak you can leave them on for days without a problem...(done that before)

How the heck did you reckon that?
You are sooo wrong! The cheap charger was the culprit and for your info, the plug is hard-wired into the charger. In fact, I am sure now that it was the cause of another set of batteries for another car to fail (it exhibited the same burnt battery look but I thought it was a defective battery)

What are you talking about...I have charged my Baja battery for at least 8 months on a bi-weekly basis and I never had a problem with my good charger. It was either a faulty battery or faulty charger, in either case, the Baja's battery compartment is set up to charge with the battery inside.

Too many Amps will do that. I never charge with more than 2.0 mA.

As long as you don't charge past the 1C rating of the battery, your fine.

Designed or not; i would never have charged my battery while it being in the radiobox. You see what happened here in this thread? You never know what is going to happen, and when it happens it is not of any use that it is designed to be charged in the box. I don't care if the polarity was wrong, charger was faulty or anything here, what happened has happened.

the 5000mAh from daves is 45 dollars not including shipping. I like daves but Venom has a 5000 pack coming soon at tower for 33.99.
