The HPI pipe from what i've heard isn't that great, and is loud as hell. It depends what you wanna get outa your engine will determine what pipe will work best for your needs. Pipes that give the best performance gains are around $150 easily.

all of them (w/o silencers) are loud

1/5 scale and "on a budget" don't mix well

THats because you have a RWD truck. Man I have the same problem with my Losi Speed-NT. I burn fresh tires out after 50 minutes of 100ft long power slides.
May I suggest JetPro pipes? I just got one and MAN. Quality pipe! Listen don't buy the clone pipe or the HPI pipe. Just wait longer. Save a little money and once you have 160 or so dollars then you can go buy a nice pipe. The performance gain will amaze you.

After finally getting my 5T tuned right with the stock can and even with a silicon exhaust tip, I still find the performance to be very good. I may not bother upgrading my pipe it all. I don't have to worry about the 5T can getting damaged and the noise output with the silicon tubing is juuuuust right! [8D]

I have to admit at first I was not expecting that much of a difference going from stock to a jetpro pipe. I knew it would be better but not by much. I was wrong, my engine behaves in a different way now! Rev much faster and the powerband is WAY better/higher. I'm amazed by the difference.

The cans are junk. Do yourself a favor and get a decent pipe. It will breath new life into your Baja. I put a Dominator V2 on my Baja 5B 2.0 and its like night and day. Honestly that should be your first upgrade. It's well worth the cash.

Sorry to double post, but I am sure if you look hard enough and can't afford a decent pipe. Someone will sell you a used one.

I'd rather get my Baja more "break proof" then spending $150+ on a pipe that can easily get damaged and just piss people off. Just my priority, everyone has got their own with their baja's.

Actually the Dominator V2 can not easily get damaged. Its protected by the rear. Also why would it piss people off? Dude you have a 5th scale not a 10th or 8th scale. My philosophy is this when dealing with neighbors. They deal with people cutting grass all week long. My Bajs's make the exact same noise. So whats the difference? Honestly? Mind you I am not referring to that big pipe that wraps around the baja. I hate those as well. I would never use any pipe that wrapped or sat on the side. But the Dominator V2 is nicely tucked in the back behind the bumper. Not to mention I have never seen anyone complain about them getting damaged. Just something to think about.

Just looking at how much it hangs out on the left and right side suggests to it getting damaged from debris from the wheels as well as a hard rear landing. I've heard the CPI pipe performs better anyway and it better protected
