RE: A major RC manufacturer is about to release their 1st 5th scale.
I saw this on a RC Car Action magazine. I looked at it from a distance 'scratched my head' and said what ?...... that looks like a 4wd Hpi 5b. Front paddles, front driveshafts. Then I saw the fans, a electric 5b and it said XTM Rail. What ? XTM is getting back into large scale with a look 'a' like 5b with 4wd. Not bad it's just that it's Xtm's newest 1/8 scale that is a brushless electric called The XTM Racing Rail.
It sure looks like a 1/5 large scale
nitro version
Even though this is a 1/5 forum, when this comes out I wont mind picking one of these up myself

I compare releasing a new large scale model now with reinventing the wheel. I think we have seen it all by now, but you never know... It better be freaking revolutionary! The only news i want from the large scale-world is that someone is making more rally/wrc-bodies for 1/5th scale That would be greater news for me than yet another monster truck.
This is my thoughts about it.

Hmmmm, lets just hope it's not more badge engineering like CEN and HPI europe have just done. there is still room for original designs...the new ferox is a prime example (though it's going to be at the high end of the market)..that's a pretty unique drivetrain layout. Also hurrax are testing a new revo style pushrod suspension set up so there is still room for a manufacturer to engineer something with a unigue layout... maybe someone could make a proper SC with IFS and a solid rear end with gas shocks(or internal spring) etc.
i guess it's easier to just take an existing model and slap another badge on it We already have something real close to the LST platform with MCD and HSP.
Traxxas are also watching the 5thscale market closely...i talked to a rep at Nuremberg and he said they had something under development but the market conditions are not where they need to be for them to enter the arena.
the ferox...more detail at rc-tune.de

I like the style of layout, the video was pretty cool. I just wish these motors had a smaller flywheel so we could mount them lower in the chassis and have the crankshaft running parllel to the center driveline ( like this one).

Now that is truly something new (for me atleast). Good that some can come up with something new. Traxxas isn't unfamiliar with large scale either as they was in the game some 15-20 years ago so they might take on it again?

buzz it's a high end 2wd racer to compete with the likes of elcon, laut and harm.
Built by a french guy who did all the cnc work himself, took him a couple of years and a few prototypes...from what i've heard about it it's pretty good, wants to be for a 2grand 2wd roller.

When looking at the title of this thread; A major RC manufacturer is about to release their 1st 5th scale, it can't be Traxxas as they already have had a large scale gasser on the market. And it is a major rc manufacturer, so it is not Model Consept France or any of the "newcomers"
