Hey what your referring to is yeah an issue they had in the V2's This is a V3 and they made the diffs stronger by adding another tooth to the planetary gears.
Now I am just waiting on the Vertigo parts to show up, and the order from DDM with the chrome engine bits, slammer engine mesh, and the voltwatch, then I can start putting this sucker together.
I also want to give a Huge shout out to Jason at High Performance Hobbies In Calgary. If it wasn't for his store I never would have bought an MCD. Here in Canada we have no dealers and that's why I have stayed away from MCD or FG. But by accident I stumbled on to his website and couldn't believe what he sold and how much he had in stock.
Everything you see in the pix he had in stock including the truck, motor, pipe, and everything else. Canadians its awesome to have somebody here in Canada to buy off of.

Pic of some of the parts I picked up as well as Parts that came with the truck.

It's so nice... I had a nutech i had to get rid of but if I am ever able to buy another 5th scale... the Baja would be my choice, I always wanted one. My question is does it still use those (problematic from what i hear?) planetary diffs?

Your lucky that you have a hobbystore like that close.
Everything I get I have to order. But everybody else here in North Bay are lucky because then get to buy all my old stuff or stuff that I don't like. IE. is a less then one tank old GBE EB. Somebody here will get ir for a good price.

RE: My new MCD Baja 1000 (loads of Pix)
Well here are a few more pix.
I got my Vertigo Center bearing carriers installed and the alloy gear mount also. My steel gears are in, and engine mesh also installed.
What took me so long was that I've been waiting on work to get me 6mm set screws. IHB wanted $12.00 plus shipping for a package of 10. Work got me 50 for $5.00 brought to my machine  Out suppliers might over charge the company for stuff but they look after us just fine.
I'll have more pix up tomorrow. The truck is almost done as I just have a few last details to do. It's looking real good and I just hope it runs as good as it looks.

Hey thanks.
I think I am going to hold off till next year to run it though. The weather is allready starting to get crappy here. It will be something to look forward to next summer.

What you need to do it run it on one of those fluke days where the weather is extraordinarily nice and warm during the cold season (dry too).

HAHA!!
Well as much as I think I will wait I know I probably won't.
Even if I can just get a few tanks for break in and see if I have any issues that I can sort out during the winter.

Damn, I I don't know how you could buy one in the winter not planning to use it 'til the summer! Surely the weather in Canada can't be too bad for a 4WD!

depends on which part of Canada, the cold snowy part which is near all of it or the tiny bit that isn't..Vancouver and Vancouver Island
and there is no need to break it in...even Zen say run it for 10-15mins...let it cool and then abuse at will...chrome bore motors don't need running in like nitros so you've no excuse...get out this weekend and give it a thrashing

I have always run 2 tanks of crappy 2 stroke oil and no WOT. After that its semi syn and let the fun begin.
Not saying its what has to be done but its what I do. [8D]
As for the weather here it has been raining for almost a week. Nice today and nice tomorrow. But I have some staining and tree removal to do this weekend. Boss said so.

RE: My new MCD Baja 1000 (loads of Pix)
Well here are a few more pix.
I got the upgrades on, and servos installed. Just waiting on foams for the tires and then I can get those done. I also have the steel 30/33 gears and my R614FF Rx's coming. That's why the antenna is coming through the hole I made to get to my carb.
I still have lots of little minor details to still do. More holes in the clear body, clean up my fuel tubes. But not in any rush. Just enjoying the build.
Here are some pix with the Silverback wheels and red rings.

The alloy mounts are from full force RC.
My foams came today So I can mount the wheels and tires up permanently.
