That is really nice!Has anybody ever worked on making the rear tires lighter for less unsprung weight?I raced karts for years and know they weigh alot for an r/c application.Keep up the cool build,I,m diggin it.

RE: 1/4 scale Pacesetter dragster Scratch Build
Just a question, why aren't you running a tuned pipe?

ORIGINAL: KENDOG689 That is really nice!Has anybody ever worked on making the rear tires lighter for less unsprung weight?I raced karts for years and know they weigh alot for an r/c application.Keep up the cool build,I,m diggin it. We have tried using the sponge rear tires and have no only ripped them to shreads, we couldnt get a good hook up out the box. Being it's unprepared track, we need to get these tires as sticky as possible and sponge don't work well. To be competitive where we run, guys are using 80 and 90cc motors with Nitrous, there running high 3's and low 4's at over 90mph, the extra rotational mass isn't as big a factor as it is more important for a great launch. |

ORIGINAL: proanti1 Just a question, why aren't you running a tuned pipe? First off, a big crazy looking pipe sticking off a dragster wouldn't look the part.. Second, yes it would be a major benefit to find a pipe that would work for us. We have had some guys that have tried several different tuned pipes and pretty much all had the same problem., blowing head gaskets, not performing better or no increase at all. It is just a matter of finding a pipe big enough, not to blow gaskets and something that wont look to stupid, but I'm sure there is something that's out there that might work well, but as it stands now, it's not needed. |

Whoa.
[X(] That sounds sweet! Hope there's a better camera around next time. Might be an idea to put "WARNING TURN THE SOUND DOWN BEFORE PLAYING VIDEO" in your post though, as it's super loud even with the volume turned right down. [:@] |

Here are a few updated pictures of exactly where we are right now.
Only thing left to do is apply some of the decals this weekend, then off to the Wram show on the 25th of this month. http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/almost14.jpg http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/done0013.jpg http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/done0110.jpg http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/done0014.jpg http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/done0015.jpg http://i77.servimg.com/u/f77/13/27/26/83/done0016.jpg |
RE: 1/4 scale Pacesetter dragster Scratch Build
that looks amazing , i want that engine in my 5b

RE: 1/4 scale Pacesetter dragster Scratch Build
Thanks splcrazy, well the 90cc in my opinion is just too heavy for the hpi baja, that motor is just about 9 lbs by itself.
They don't rev too high, stock about 8500 to 9000 and ported just about 11k, but it would just destroy the baja tranny with it's torque. But power to weight ratio would be against you in something like that. |
RE: 1/4 scale Pacesetter dragster Scratch Build
I have applied the decals, here are a few quik shots
