Brand new engines

Do brand new engines seem to run really hot during break-in ?? this is a 29cc head kit motor and i dont remember if my Zen 26 ran as hot. needles at at 2 turns out on both

My guess would be that the COmpression is so tight, that the piston is rubbing against the Cylinder wall more and causing more friction More friction= More heat. Thats just my guess and im a newb to Gassers.

yeah i accidently grazzed the tuned pipe with my finger and it burned the hell out of me. Plug color was a bit light but i noticed they stay alitte light when new. I hope this baby dosent deside to seize. I dont remember the 26 getting that hot. Compression is 13:1 so it could be that i need a higher octane

Im going to now !! Earth surfer recommends this for proper break-in to seat the ring.. I only took it easy for 1/2 tank. now tomarrow i will run the hell out of it on the remaining half. :D

RE: Brand new engines

Well today i ran the piss out of like i said i was and it did really good with top speed runs. the motor is starting to show more power already as im almost done with tank one. Right now this motor is alittle bit tricky for me to tune. When it tops out it sounds like alittle bit of bogging like H needle is too rich, i dont have it too rich though. But i have a question and i need someone to answer this who knows. I notice when running today the primer bulb was almost empty, it's supose to be almost full. so is this a sign of lean somewhere???

if the spark is light you may be running a little on the lean side, and you wont need higher octane fuel, you would know if the engine was knocking, apart from that the chainsaw engines can run 17:1 compression running on 91 octane (the aussie, i think that 85 or something in the states) gas, so i doubt 13:1 is going to start knocking.

TFGman, I run Ultra 94 octane with between 28:1 and 32:1 Penzoil 2 stroke "outdoor" oil in my stock motor right now and it runs awesome. I pulled my plug when I was adding in the baja killswitch, and it was buring perfectly. I relaly don't want to adjust anything, but I may mess with my low end so I can get back the initial snappy wheelies again as it is hotter and more humid now when I am running in the daytime summer.
