Good to here that, And since ou already have a React, that radio will totally spank any other RTR radio any of the RTRs can offer.

HPI kit are $899 USD from Daves Discount Motors (DDM), PLUS you get a $100 rebate for buying from DDM
http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c..../it.A/id.47/.f
http://www.hpiracing.com/rebate/

DDM will even give free shipping for most orders over $100, so, you can expect to pay like $800 on the dot (be sure to check to see if you are elligible for teh free shipping.

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

Isnt the rebate 50 bucks for the SS kit?

SAVAGEJIM 12-28-2008 11:14 PM

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

Ah, yes, I see now. It is teh 5T that gets $100 rebate,

The 5B ss gets $50 rebate.

So, assuming DDM gives you the free shipping, the 5B SS kit with rebate is $850 .

Regardless, $850 shipped with rebate factored in, that is a great price, considering that the clones were actually charging more before the holidays.

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

If I can get the cash up before December 31st I can get it from Tower Hobbies shipped for $819 then the $50 rebate would make the bottom price $769.

SAVAGEJIM 12-28-2008 11:21 PM

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

LOL, then that is what I would do! For that price, that is only like $20 more than what a RedCat Rampage is selling for by a reputable dealer!

About how long is the run time on a tank of gas?

SAVAGEJIM 12-28-2008 11:59 PM

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

For the 23cc Bajas, about 40min? I'm not sure, 30+ min is the nom for gassers

For the 26cc, 30 min sounds about right for the same tank size

I am not going to start a new thread for each of my questions so please reply. Who makes the Fuelie engine and are there any engines that parts are computable with them? What number NGK plug do they run?

I missed out on the above deal do to not having the founds at that time but hope to be ordering my SS kit next weekend. Going to end up costing me around $800 shipped with rebate.

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

the 23 and 26 cc stock engines are made by cy. and you can get zenoah parts for them, the zenoah parts are better. the ngk plug is # cmr 7h. both motors have a run time of 35-45 minutes, depending on how you drive them. sorry you missed the deal, but they are still great to get. if you can, save alittle more and get a t

I guess he meant a Baja 5T instead of Baja 5B,but it was damn har to understand!

46u 01-04-2009 12:03 PM

RE: HPI Baja 1/5 Baja 5B SS Kit

From what I have seen the T is about $500 more and I do not see it worth that much more unless there is something I do no know or understand. All so I do not do RTR only kits. :D

Who sells the remote cut off switches?

I bought switches form DDM and FG supply, but you can also get them from large scale RC I think.
The good ones are called Pico, but TGN also makes them too.

good luck on the new baja:D

i don't even have the real baja and i still love mine. You should also get an outerwears airfilter cover. it will offer a little more protection from dirt. it will also increase time between cleaning the filter.

those stock pin tires will not last you long, especially if you drive it on-road. Hostile tires are a great solution. if you run mainly off-road, get their MX tires and if you just run everywhere, get their AT tires. The Proline badlands are ok too but hostile is still better.

I have many up grades I plain on doing before ever starting it up. Being I have so much I am going to do to it before starting it for the first time it will be a couple of months before I do. Yes other tires are on the list. Thanks for the input.
