help with big bore kit
hi,just got a big bore kit from ddm, when i installed the piston,i read that the arrow on top of piston should be facing exhaust port, but there was no arrow on top of piston, the other side of piston was the little notch that the space in the ring goes ,my question is i have the notch facing the exhaust port, instead of intake port, will it be ok if i left it this way,i read that the notch is suppose to be on the intake side, thanks for any input

RE: help with big bore kit
you must have some kind of mark on the top of the piston, I know that CY’s big bore kits have “dot” on the piston rather than the arrow, this dot \ arrow or any other mark that you have must face the exhaust port, otherwise you might ruin the kit, also make sure that the ring is closed well around the small pin if it won’t be like that so you might ruin the head & piston.
With a basic search on that topic in the forum you will find a lot of threads, many guys had the same issue… Good luck! |
RE: help with big bore kit
Just make sure the ring gap is on the intake side and you will be fine.

RE: help with big bore kit
the reason it needs to be facing the intake is couse the ring gap can an will get cought on the ehaust port. it will start and run fine, but there is a HIGH chance that you will ruin your ring, piston, head, and could also do more damage to the crank shaft.

RE: help with big bore kit
you also want to make sure that the gap on your wrist pin clips is facing down, so you dont lose one while your engine is running. not a pretty site!
