How to remove bearings from gear plate???
1 Attachment(s)
guys, I am looking for a tool that remove bearings from the alloy gear plate on my 1/5 scale car. If you look at the attached pic (red arrow), there are two big ball bearings on each side of the alloy gear plate. I know must of you use a flat hear screw driver and tap on one side until the bearing comes out, well, I don't want to tap on new bearings as I am not going to replace them, and not only that but you risk damaging where the bearing sits (I have already done that). So there must be a special tool to remove bearings so that they come out straight in order the avoid damage to gear plate. PLease let me know...
Thanks, |
RE: How to remove bearings from gear plate???
you would want a bearing puller somewhat like this

RE: How to remove bearings from gear plate???
if they're metal sided bearings I heat the alloy with a plumbers torch, carefully but quickly so it expands before the bearings get too hot and then they'll tap out real easy...if you got sealed plastic bearings then you'll need a puller or just buy new ones as mad maori says and may as well get the best, the boca orange
