only bent the bumper and broke a lower front arm the rest of the car is ok

this is what hapens when ya over rev a engine

Ouch! Sorry about the bad luck man.

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

thats one heavy impact to crack the crankcase like that , lol when that happens all you can do is watch it untill it explodes , now you need an entire new engine , and now you can clean that car up .

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

it wasint the impact that did the damage it was from over reving with out load the clutch exploded

i did have a fail safe but it did help any when a servo fails and yes i will be geting pico swithes for both my cars

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

hey Bentley,

that looks like it hurts, sorry to see.

you could also try TGN Fail Safe Kill Switch - Utilizes the 3rd channel on your radio, (http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/ite...Engines__2667/)

works great, i've had to use it a few times.

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

the kill switch failsafe sounds good but i dont like how it kills the engine when it looses signal , my DX3R apply's the brakes when it looses signal and ocassionaly when i drive it too far that happens . i dont like the idea of going for a long walk or run cos the switch turns off the engine every time it looses signal

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

ouch! [:@] sorry to see that.

I'm using 3,
failsafe on the 3PM
ofna unit>>> [link=http://www.ofna.com/failsafe-micro.html]http://www.ofna.com/failsafe-micro.html[/link]
and #5>>> [link=http://www.rckillswitch.com/options/options.php]http://www.rckillswitch.com/options/options.php[/link]

let me know if theres a 4th out there and I will get it !

a 5T at WOT is fun, only if you can make it stop :D
so far no signal loss from the 3PM, "knock on wood"
...but I would rather walk a few times to start it back up, than having to walk to look at leftovers.
Or finding myself calling 911 cause I just hit a person with my 25lb toy [&o]

looks to me the radio doesn't have a good range,,most decent radio has very good signal range, u'l lose sight first before losing the signal..

i dont know if anyone is aware of this but the picco dosnt like to comunicate with a reciever that has a built in falesafe one of the distributors that i know tried testing this switch with spektrum and it would not function properly.

Whoo boy! That is a real hong dinger of a S.N.A.F.U.! Were you racing while out bashing on the street?
What RC is that by the way?

Personally, I agree with everyone else. An electronic kill switch in addition to your manual kill switch is a good thing to have. I would much rather have to run a 100 yards to retrieve an RC rather than have all that damage (whih could exceed easily well more than $100 USD).

i'm running pb pico switch with nomadio react handset and spektrum 3100 in my rampage and it works fine, you can set your failsafe in the react to either shut down ch 3 or not when the failsafe kicks in...pretty sure it's the same on my dx3... so it will work with the spektrum receivers

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

I hate what happen and you can look at it this way. You came out cheaper then if it hit someone particularly if you where running on public property. Your car would be the least of you worries as a 20 plus pound car going WOT and hitting someone would be BAD. I am new to 1/5 scale NOT RC ITS SELF and all I have read on MANY 1/5 scale forums recommend not ever starting your vehicle unless you have a engine kill failsafe. My HPI 5B SS is on its way and I sure will not start it with out one.

One other thing Spektrum radios failsafe does not work if the RX battery gets low. This is one of the few things I do not like about Spektrum. I have a DX3 before I got my React so I know it did not have a failsafe for low RX battery. I even emailed Spektrum about the newer ones and they said same thing. Not sure about all of them but get a engine kill failsafe and this will do the job for you if you have a Spektrum and in my opinion is a must on any large scale vehicle.

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

I concur, even when your battery comes unplugged you can shut it down with the power left in the receiver, failsafes don't work if the battery gets disconnected..kill switch does.

Wow Bentley your motor really grenaded itself

i stand corrected, iwas just going by what i was told by a pretty reliable source. i will check into this more as i would like to run the picco as well.

my radio was not the prob a wire cam off in side the servo making it go to full throttle

im allready using my 3rd channel in the recever for a front brake servo .... will a pico switch work ??? and where would i plug it in to

pbs kill switch is the 1st hop up to buy..time for a new engine ;)..
i guess uneed a 4channel rx .

nzkiwi1975 01-11-2009 02:58 PM

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

Hey Bentley

You may need to change your 3rd channel to run your Kill Swtich. You connect it to your recever & then to the kill switch on the motor. You can then use the 3rd channel to kill motor or if there is a problem with power or if your signal becomes weak or interrupted it will also kill your motor too.

I use TGN Engine Kill Switch.

works great.

that's the problem I had with the spektrum dx3 my fg not enough channels and I didn't want to lose being able to mix seperate brake servos so I bought a 4ch react...problem solved by throwing more cash at it[sm=greedy.gif]. I got my switch from pb kill switches/ dimension engineering.... $39inc shipping

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

Just to bad to get extra Nomadio RX or even the system you either have to pay an arm and leg or wait forever for Nomadio to make some. I love my React but the availability of sensors and RX is few and far between. All so there support could be better!

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

Hey mooman

what was it that you brought?? was it a 4 channel RX??

You have to buy the TX to use the 4 channel RX as well or the radio system. One of the many nice features of the React is you can use some Spektrum RX with them. I think only the DSM 1. If Nomadio got off there butt and up graded the software you probably could use the DSM 2 as well.

splcrazy 01-11-2009 08:47 PM

RE: RUN AWAY DAMAGE

what would be good is have a servo near the kill switch and when something is wrong press the 3rd channel to activate the servo to manually activate the kill switch.
