Does the King Motor Baja convert to a 5T

Does the King Motor Baja convert to a 5T? I mean what I read is that the 5t is just an 5bss with a truck body, but steering and suspension are the same right? So what I need just tires and body?

RE: Does the King Motor Baja convert to a 5T

the kingmotor baja has all of the same parts as the real 5b except for the radio box and the diff. EVERY SINGLE KM PART CAN BE REPLACED WITH HPI PARTS. so yes, a clone baja will convert to a 5t just as easily as the real thing.

RE: Does the King Motor Baja convert to a 5T

yes you could just buy the proline truck body , then buy axle extenders front and rear and buy same width rims front and back , and then it will look better than a 5T , thats what i want to do to mine

I dont know, the possibility of such a beast becoming available in the US could change. Here is my speculation: If trade agreements change, HPI could be able to claim copyright and intellectual property infringement. The reason why clones were able to come in so easily into the US within the past decade is because of massive deregulations and serious relaxing of international trade barriers. Remember how there was a huge stink about chinese clones coming into America (not just RCs, but clothing knock-offs, electronics, etc.)? that was sort of pushed aside in favor of more open trading. But in light of the economy, actions might change that old view some or alot.

So, a 5T clone MIGHT come to America, but if things roll differerntly, the 5T clone might not even hit ships bound for America.

yeah but hpi is out of japan, copyrights don't cross over from japan to china, that's why the km baja's are still being produced. that's what i've been told correct me if i'm wrong.

people are still mad about the KMs:eek: There is nothing HPI can do.....or it would have already been done.....HPI being produced in Tiawan and the KM in china

If the Hpi baja can be converted to a 5T..... than the KM baja can be converted just as easy

That is correct, copyrights do not crossover to china, but in the US, the companies here have a right to take action to enforce their intellectual properties by taking measures or legal actions against those that infringe on them. The US has been lax on allowing companies to do this effectively because of really lax trade agreements and deregulations.
This is all I will say about this, the rest goes too much into politics.

HPI, doing in the US can take some actions, legal and all, to protect their intelectual properties under US laws.

However, just because clones are kept out of the US does not mean that the RCs are still being cloned. So, there might be thousands of Smartech 5T clones all over china right now. The thing is if they will even be able to get into the US. They will eventually seep in as rogue fleabay sellers get their hands on them, (illegally or by some creative importing loopholes).

So dose anyone know when the 5T clone will come out ,if it dose comes out at all. I was thinking about doing the same thing but didnt realy dig the proline 5T conversion body so trying to find a different body ,but I did realy like the real 5T body but there about $230 WoW

RE: Does the King Motor Baja convert to a 5T

There probably is a 5T clone already. KM probably already has one, and I would not be surprised if Shenqi has cloned it too. As I said, getting these into the US is another issue.

If you want a KM 5T right now, the only way to do it is to go to china and buy one there, then fly back home with it.

Alternatively, you can convert your KM into a KM-HPI hybrid by using original HPI 5T parts to do the conversion.

They did, but it was called a "kit car" and they made them in the 80's...They came in a big crate and you had to assemble them youself.
