Last week, I finished a little Tercel HLG that I had gotten a kit for. I don't normally build someone else's designs, but the price was right (about $5), and I needed a replacement for my old HLG so I started gluing...
Control is a Futaba AM (narrowband small) reciever, a 270mah batt pack, and two micro servos. I covered the wings and tail with translucent yellow Ultrakote and finished the fuselage in clear dope.
On my third hard launch I managed to get it into a thermal and keep it up for a pretty nice long flight.
Anyone else have a good experience with this little design?

I built one a few years back and found that while it would catch and ride a thermal it was more due to light weight rather than good wing design. I built a new wing for it with a different airfoil and a 5 panel format and it flew a lot better showing a much longer "hang time" when scratching for a thermal. I don't think it's that they chose a bad airfoil so much as the design doesn't properley support the covering to try and hold the shape. It just becomes too triangular between the ribs.
