Default Tow Plane Release

Where can I find the release mechanism ( company or do it yourself) to put in my Rascal. If anyone has put one in a Rascal please tell me how and where to put it.
Thanks
Doug

Ben Diss over on rcgroups makes a real nice machined and pollished steel release. Not cheap, though..

I would just make my own. It's real easy!

Put it at or near the CG. My Husky has it on the top at the trailing edge of the wing, we notched the hatch since the wing halves plug into the side and put it there, if the wing is part of the top of hte airplane, notch the trailing edge.

A hunk of aluminum, a drill, and piece of music wire, and a file is all you really need, ours are home made.

See attached a tow hookmechanism which I designed and fitted to a 3rd scale Cub. It mounts with minimal cutting to the hard points of the wingbolt framework in the fuse and sit just behind the trailing edge. It work very well and is veryeasy to make yourself. The pics shows the mechanism itself and after installation (before respraying) the tow hook in the "open" and "closed" positions.

+1 on Ben Diss
I bit the bullet and bought one. The polish and craftsmanship are WAY BEYOND GOOD
