Default E-glider Recommendations?

Hello,

I am currently flying a modified H9 Aspire EP. I put a Graupner Speed Gear 600 motor in it with a 2.45:1 gear reduction and a 12x10 prop. It performs well on a 9-cell pack of KR600AEs, but the quality of the kit is not the greatest. The wing is warped and it needs a lot of rudder trim to track straight... and those rubber bands...

The upshot is that I would like to take the power system out and build a new airframe. Can anyone recommend a resonably priced kit in the 2 meter size? I would prefer something that can accomodate spoilers so I can dethermalize better (I always get the yips when she gets way up there!). A modern laser-cut kit would be a plus.

Thanks for any advice!

Regards,

jc

Not really. Yes, I know that I could work on it some but I am also looking for added features like spoilers and bolt-on wings. It does perform well with the modified motor.

Thanks for the pointer to the swing-plus.

Default I got one 4ya!

I am just about finished covering the wings
on my New Creations RC "Conrador Freedom".
It's 2.7M (107 inch) 4 servo wing (Flp & Ail)
T Tail, fglass fuse. THE RTC is 199 bucks at
New Creations. You have to cut the control surfaces
out of the routed wing, cover, glue the halves
together, install the servos and ready to go.
I have the 8U set up with Motor on one sw,
and Crow on another. (Using an Aveox 1406/2y
with a 3.7 to 1 gear box and 10 cell 2400scr zap
pack turning a 14 x 9.5!
I will be posting pics here shortly.
Give Kirk at call and get one! It's a sweetie!

Default Here's a pic of the 2.7M Conrador!

Rainy and windy all weekend. Time was spent
on the bench finishing the Conrador Freedom!
Quick Stats:
2.7m (9 Foot W/S) Eppler 205, T Tail
I have an Aveox 1406/2y with a 3.7 Gear box
Running a Hacker Master 70 3p Opto from 10 cells
to a 14 x 9.5 Graupner Folding Prop. E calc predicts
a 60º climbout and almost 4 min duration! (Ought to
leave a little headroom for that 'go-around')!
It has Flaps and Ail (4 servo wing) and I have my
Futaba 8U set up to put either the Motor OR the
Butterfly "crow" function on the THROTTLE stick!
This is my first E-glider. I am amazed at the length
of a 9 foot wing!
See next post for the long......shot!

Default 2 more for you to check out

I found these electric ARF's and I'm interested because they come with the 550 motor, and it looks like you get wing bags with the deal as well

You have to click on the Pacific AeroModel logo to see the aircraft:

sportsman

If anyone has flown either of these please reply as I'm looking for a flight report.

Thanks, Jim

Default Rc glider

Be careful, those gliders are made of plastic.
They are very difficult to fix, also the covering it's kind of cheap.
Stick to the quality. The 550 motor you can get for $10.00-$15.00 anywhere you want.

Default Not totally accurate

They are actually polypropylene from what I see. I've seen polypropylene fuselages take impacts that would have shattered glass fuselages.

The esprit stuff look a bit pricey and it doesn't look like the motors are included uuugggg!

Default ????????

Do you know difference between gel-coated fiberglass and polypropylene?
Do you know how much work is to make perfect smooth fuselage and CNC cut parts for wings?
I know the way you think. It's Ok with me.
If you buy a plane from me I will give you the can motor for free!
Do you know difference between brushed and brushless electric motors?

I would also consider the 2M Omega from NSP. I have the sailplane (non-electric) version and I'm very pleased with it. It is molded LE and TE and wing control surfaces. On sale right now at NSP for $209.

Here is the URL:

Default Cadet Moderator/ breaking rules

I'm new to RCU, but I thought I read in the rules that companies are not supposed to advertise and try to sell their products in these forums.

It seems like this Modest Master runs some sailplane business esprit models and he is trying to sell his product here.

What up with that? Pretty soon these forums will be a bunch of people trying to push their products !

Kinda ironic that when I read your post there was an ad for Esprit Models right underneath it.

Anyway, the rules say that product announcements will only be posted in the announcement forum. If Modest Master is only explaining why his models are more expensive when somebody says they seem more pricy than another, that's not really an announcement IMHO. Plus he offered freebie stuff. Works for me.

YMMV

I must agree with Modest-Master on the problems associated with repairing polypropelene fuselages. I have not found an adhesive that will work-at least up til now. I must also agree that they can take a hit pretty good too.

However(always a however) IMHO a gell coated fuse is a thing of beauty that the other stuff cannot touch. You are going to pay a bit more-I do mean BIT-but you get what you pay for.

Check out the Mafisto from Espirt Models. Similar price--much higher quality and he did say he would throw in a can motor.

Hey Modest-Master can I geet this deal too????
