Combat Models F-16 Slope Soarer - Need some help
Hello,
I just bought a Combat Models F-16 Slope Soarer that needs to be finished. It looks like it is new out of the box but needs to be finished to fly. I don't think anything has been done to it so i'm starting from scrach. This my first attempt at a foam plane and and I'm looking for any helpful pointers/tips/advise any of you may have. Any help on his would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Tim

I also have one of these, but I havn't done any building yet. I think I am going with the powered version. If you have never used foam before it is real easy. I dont use epoxy for the glue, if you have time you may want to use elmers probond, or any other polyurethane glue. I also use a woodpecker to increase the bond surface. Since you are soaring you can finish with latex paint. Be careful of spray paints, you may want to do a test piece. Check with the combat guys. They usually have a number of tricks to be quick and inexpensive when working with foam. I am going to glass mine, like I said I am going with the power version and need the strength and residue protection.
Do a search for Combat Models, I think they have a construction video available for a deposit.[sm=pirate.gif]

RE: Combat Models F-16 Slope Soarer - Need some help
Hi Kev,
It is very simple to put together. I added 2 strips of the packing tape with string in it on the wings for strenth. Other than that, you glue the stab in, glue the bottom half of the fuse on, and the rudder into it's slot and it's about done. The elevator and alerons are balsa.
It is a nice kit and i was lucky enough to get all the hardware with it. I have read posts on here about kits that were missing parts and getting them was a pain... just to let you know...
Thanks,
Tim

Blue foam is what home builders use on the outside of your house for isulation. You should be able to get it at a home improvement store like Lowe's or Home Depot. I am aware of the model you are referring to, I have one. From what I know CBM only ships when they want, which means you may wait a while.
