Finally finished the Piece O' Cake motor glider. Modified the .049 plans to use a 8x3.8 prop, 0.10 SuperTigre motor, 3s/1800/15c and 30 amp ESC. Using a Tactic 2.4Gz 4-channel Tx and Tactic 6-channel Rx left over from a RTF kit. Streamlined the control exit points, upgraded the elevator/rudder control linkage and added ventilation to front and rear to cool the ESC/battery.

This plane climbs like a rocket (a wee bit overpowered!) with less than a quarter throttle. With minimal throttle, the climb is pleasant resulting in 30+ minute flights and 20-23% power consumption (that is without significant thermals. The hot summer air in Georgia should extend the flight times).

Great job. Glad the decals turned great for ya! Looks good. Where is the field that you are flying from.
Looks great with the other full size models.

Thanks.  The grass runway is about four miles south of 19A, Jackson County, Georgia.  Local farmer and pilot generously lets us use his field to fly R/C.

That s really cool. Its really a fun airplane for general flying and those lazy days of relaxed flying.

I have my piece-o-cake laying around that I built 34 years ago when I was 15. After watching yours, I think I will get mine back together for some summer flying. My wing and fuse are in great condition but the h-tail needs a rebuild. Nothing like a little nostalgia.

I think my Gentle Lady and your Piece O'Cake might have shared space and time back in the day; however, all that is left of my GL is the rudder, some left over covering and fond memories.  Let me know if you need the plans for the tail...looks like we live close to each other.

IfIHadWings- thanks but I still have the original plans. I'm debating changing it to electric or maybe keep my cox blackwidow .049. I also have a brand new Norvel .061 rc that I had intended on installing many years ago. I have standard size servos in it that will get swapped out for 9 gram servos for some great weight savings. I have a couple of planes to put together first before this one makes it to the work bench though. I'm hoping over the summer it will be flying. I post photos once its done.
