Seeking Indy area Soaring club or pilots
I already have woodies (BOT from kit, scratch built sort of a Windrifter 100 copy, and Ken Bates Windlord also scratch built w/carbon fiber strips on spars)
Also have Craft Air Hi-Start HD and a HD "up-start".
I seek others to fly with around Indianapolis Indiana.
AMA and LSF memberships current.
142088.
It would be nice to find a Sailplane club or group of Silent Fliers.
Sometimes fly at Muncie.

RE: Seeking Indy area Soaring club or pilots
The closest AMA sanctioned Sailplane/Soaring club to Indianapolis would be in Muncie as listed in the link that Ed provided and that would be MIST or MID IND. SOCIETY OF THERMALERS.

Thanks Folks,
Yes I checked the AMA club locator....
I emailed Indy RC South's prez at the address on the club page 2 months ago re:Sailplanes and the club.
Never got any reply so I forwarded 3 copies yesterday.
In fairness I haven't gone to any meetings either, but still a reply of some sort is not asking much in light of 80 bucks a year dues on top of AMA for 60.
It isn't a lot to ask in my view for a reply.
I'll keep driving to Muncie and consider myself lucky to have access to that facility.
I fly power too but I CANNOT see paying "dues" to any place that doesn't encompass both aspects of MY chosen "hobby".
Soaring always has been my first choice and will stay paramount.
Scratch building and Woodie kits forever as Ray Hayes says.

What side of Indy do you live on? I am a member of the Johnson County Flyers. We have a field in Johnson County park near Edinburgh and accross the street from Camp Atterbury. We have a wide open space and some nice amenities like permanent restrooms and a club house with a stocked refrigerator. We fly all types of planes, except turbines, and many times you will find gliders in the air as well as other types of planes. You should come down and check out the field, Since we are in a county park, our field is open to the public so you can come down anytime.
