Default Spring loaded folding props

I have seen videos of powered RC sailplanes using some sort of spring arrangement to fold the blades not requiring the wind to close them. Anyone have a source or if they are mods how to make them?

Been flying RC gliders for 50 years. Flown electric from the very first ones. Never saw spring loaded props and can't imagine why they would be needed.

What kind of problem are you having that you'd need something like that. They are a pain when handling the fuselage, but I use a rubber band. Stow it in the fuse when bolting on the wing and pull it out when the wing is off after the flying.

Attaching the spring to the prop would require something on or in the prop. Not a good idea.

Sorry all I can give is somewhat negative advice. It will be interesting to read the sales talk if someone finds a mfg'd setup.

There is no problem but I have designed a SLS The motor is supported by two supports. It rotates 90 degrees andrests between 2 supportsduring the fold cycle. I need to insure the prop gets folded before the motor rotates. I might add that this is a mostly scale sailplane (the SLS isnt scale).

I don't know of any which come with such features. But it would not be that hard to add wire whisker springs or simply use a rubber band setup as a spring. If you can design a hinging mount of that sort I'm sure you can figure out a blade folding spring setup.

It would be particularly good on a pusher prop setup since a tractor setup would see the props folding around the motor and the mount support arm. That could easily lead to broken blades during a start up when the blades wipe against the support pylon.
