Default The Sorcerer

Here's a balsa bashing project I have been working on for a couple of years off and on The Sorcerer thermal glider built from Charlie Parker plans (produced in the early eighties).

Well, after doing a bit every now and then, we finally got the beggar finished. The model is designed to fly on the dual rudders only, but performance was pretty sluggish, so I added ailerons. These work really well and make it agile enough for general park flying, particularly when you let loose with the twirly bit on the front. Also should make a good light wind sloper - I hope.
Here's a vid of the maiden flight following the addition of ailerons.

I was thinking of making it a pusher and use this for an FPV / camera platform. I like the unconventional look to it.

Maybe needs a touch more dihedral to make the rudders more effective?

How slow does it fly? Would this be able to thermal at all?

Buzz.

Hi Buzz, yes it would work well with a pusher/FPV setup. I have been playing around with a movable camera set up I got from Hobby King (see below), but struck a bit of a snag as HK cheaped out on the servos and they are too jittery, so will have to look at rebuilding it with better servos.
Yip, the model thermals like a champ - which is what it was originally designed for. In the vid I was just tooling around down low as it is slightly more entertaining than watching a glider thermal.
Here's a link to a RCG post that has the plans and a very good article in PDF format: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&postcount=625
