Default Where's the hump in N.C.?

We're having some strong winds here in N.C. and I have the jones to go sloping, the only place I've heard of is called the HUmp up on the Blue Ridge near Blowing Rock, anyone have better directions?

There's a Hump Mountain just off the Appalachian Trail in Avery County, NC. It's near Elk Park. See:

Well we found the spot Sunday and had a great time.. its the LUMP on Blueridge Parkway..

It was my first slope experience and all I can say is wow.. my BOT went almost out of sight.. but then again my eyes are getting old...

Is this the highest point for quite some distance?

It doesn't look to me that this would be that great of a slope soaring spot from the pictures. Sure there is a nice grassy landing area but you have all these trees and hills to interrupt the flow of the air!

Yes it is not the best place. Places like Fermin point, Torrey Pines, Vejer de la Frontera(Spain), and I'm sure many other places are better, but this is what we got and we'll just have to put up with some trees. The locals use a bungie to get out over the trees, and even with the light lift(2-3mph wind) I got my Talon out there on a throw for a great flight. No it's not the highest spot but the highest spot doesn't always have the best lift or landing area. This place does have a real nice landing area.
