Default WWII Glider

I'm wanting a World War II Glider that is as scale as possible that can be towed by a Top Flite DC-3 or bigger covered in the C-47 WWII Colors. The Top Flite DC-3 has a 83.5" wingspan and I would like the glider to be close to the scale as possible to the C-47. A 80" to 90" wingspan should be scale enough. Plans, kit, or ARF would be fine. If there is none, I've got a old PT-40 kit and I might bash it into a WWII glider. The C-47 will have to be littler, but that's ok. So what do you guys think?

Check out this thread on a Waco glider. There's lots of info on it.

wes,
Airage has 2 plans for WWII gliders. One is a Schweizer TG-2 and the other a Hamilcar. Both are available through RCstore.com
They actually represent the 2 types of gliders used in WWII. The Schweizer was a training glider and was an actual soaring machine. The Hamilcar was an assault glider. It was made to glide from a launch altitude to a landing close to a predetermined objective. No soaring involved (or re-use either)

You might check RCM plans as well. I think I remember they had a plan for a Waco assault glider. Good luck.

You might like to look at the British Airspeed Horsa, which was bigger (30 men) and more 'glider like' to look at. Plenty of info. on Google. I have seen plans for a slope version, try the UK PSSA website.

The plans for the twin engined Franklin powered version are out there too. Either Model Airplane News or the Academy of Model Aeronautics have it on their website. Its smallish, as it was meant for two .09's IIRC.

Fortunately, is such an easy shape I bet you could reduce the larger plans or blow up the smaller ones at Kinko's pretty easily.

I have 100"ws plans for two german assault glider - DFS-230 and GO 242 /244( simliar to C-119 flying boxcar )

I have been working on the DFS, built the wing out of foam ( 80" rescaled ). making the fuse, out of basswood then glassing.
I may make the a ribbed wing for the GO 242 and cover with 1.1oz ripstop from Walmart( $ 1 a yd stuff).

Slope flyer UK,

I thought that kit was no longer made, thats why Hobby Lobby here in the U.S. stop selling it. If it is still available you may want to pass on a source for the forum.
