Default Probably made a mistake

I just ordered an E 2000 thuder Tiger. It looked liked what I wanted which is a say middle speed E powered glider. I read one review of it elsewere, and a guy said it flew like a stone when the motor was off. I was thinkin this would nbe be a nice glider, and now realize i may need to reconsider. Any input appreciated.

Default RE: Probably made a mistake

Those designs are intended as trainers and are designed to be built by the factory workers quickly. Aerodynamic design takes a back seat to practicality.

However if you need a trainer then they are a good option. But if you have some background in flying and are only transitioning to soaring then a "higher priced spread" design would be a much better alternative.

But with that increase in performance comes a need to be more on top of the flying of the model. The clean designs are very responsive to changes in pitch and accelerate very quickly. A newbie can and will get into trouble quickly and often with such a design. For such folks a draggy trainer that flies like a lump will be much more forgiving to learn on despite the fact it has the glide of a greased crowbar. Speed changes are not so emphasised and stalls are often more easily recovered from. Built in stability will allow the model to free flight when the controls are released. Etc,......

So where do you fit?
