Kadet Senior - Good Tug ?
We are considering purchasing a Kadet Senior (ARF version) to act as a tug aircraft for aerotowing gliders/sailplanes. This aircraft flies very well/easy and has a wingspan of 78". We would beef it up a bit and put a larger enging that would normally be required for this airplane (we would probably put an OS91FX on it). How large in wingspan...., and how heavy in weight.... do you think this aircraft would be able to tow ? Do you think it would be capable of towing sailplanes in the 130" wingspan/8 pound range ? Thanks.

Kadet Senior - Good Tug ?
We have been using a SR. Kadet for 3 years towing 3-4 meter DG800, 600, and even a Paragon or two meter. I bought it as completed kit from one of our club members, and then modified it. Turned it into a tail dragger, installed a simple reinforced tow line release, beefed up the wing to be bolted on, reinforced the landing gear, the firewall, and installed an OS108. Seems to have plenty of oomph from our grass field. Good Luck. Jerry

SR Kadet
Thanks very much for the information Jerry. We are trying to decide whether to go with the SR Kadet, or a winch. We estimate that the cost of the SR Kadet, engine, etc., will be about the same as a winch. Both methods have advantages and dis advantages. Thanks. Bob
