foam core repair
Ok, here's a challenge! I have aquired a nice sailplane kit that is partially built. The wings were already sheeted. However one wing half was warped and rippled. I removed the 1/64th ply skin on the top and saw the builder used an adhesive that ate the foam in long holes and waves. The bottom skin was perfect.
How can I fill the holes, sand to airfoil shape, and re-skin it?
I have the original beds and the opposite wing is perfect and straight.
here's a pic:

for small deviations, mix 50-50 yellow glue and Polyurethane glue (such as Gorrilla Glue of ProBond Polyurethane) Spread the mix into the divots, cover with packing tape and set the wing in the shucks. The glu mix will expand and fill the voids, then you peel the tape and sand.
for deeper deviations, saw the hole out to a convenient shape and glue in patches of styrofoam using the poly/wood glue mix, then acrve and sand to shape.
Reskin with your favorite glue. I will sometimes use the probond, sometimes yellow glue, sometimes 3M Formula 77 (*Read the label... there's 2 versions of 3M77, and one has acetone... which eats foam!)
