Default Finished my Sky Bird

It's not a great picture, but hey its a cell phone.

We will be taking more this weekend. What a great plane. I would HIGHLY recommend this kit from Ray Hayes and Skybench Aerotech.

This has been a first class experience from the get go. Outstanding wood, good plans, excellent laser cut parts, very quick delivery, and great communication from Ray. It is a pretty straight forward build. It's not really a first timers build (I got lucky and had a great builder help me out...my Brother) there are a few parts that were a little tricky. ( I have not built a kit for 25 years and even then I only built 2 other kits.) All in all though I am very pleased with this and look forward to a great summer of flying.

Here are a few more I took last night.

Edited to add a few photos.

Hey there Liberator,
Your Sky Bird does look great!! I just started building Ray's XL Big Bird. It will have an AXI motor in it with a 7 cell battery. You are right on about the wood and even the packaging. It is VERY good. The plans are OK too, but again.... you were right on as this is NOT a good plane for a first time builder. I have built about 6 kits, but this is my first sailplane. I am better at "seeing photos" along with written directions and there is a minimum of photos supplied. The photos are also of poor quality.... BUT all in all, I would say..... I am very happy with the build so far, and I am not disappointed with this purchase. .... lownslo.

Hey Liberator
Your Sky Bird looks great! You'll enjoy flying it.
enclosed are pictures of my SB. This is my third season flying it. It has flaps which are mixed as flaperons. The flaperons give all the stability and ease of control of a poly with the instant control of an aileron ship. On launch the flaps help it go near veritcal.

Thanks, so does yours!

Yes its a great plane. It has been a little skittish on the down wind side of things, but I finally figured it out. Drop the flaps about half and she straightens right up.
I highly recommend this plane!
