Just picked up a few gliders...
First off, i would like to say hi to everyone out there, as im new to this site. Ive been flying and building model airplane for the past 5 or 6 years, i would say though that i enjoy the building much more than the flying.
I just picked up a load of random airplane peices and parts (i literally filled up my explorer with this stuff), and along with the endless amounts of wings and fusalages, there were a couple of unopened kits. The first one is a Sailaire by craft-air. Judging by the manual and images on the box, id say this one is pretty old, but have no idea what year it was built in. Heres the front of the box - [link]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f263/neco1/PICT0096.jpg[/link]
The next one is the Tercel by birdi. This one looks a little newer but still seems kinda old.[link]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f263/neco1/PICT0094.jpg[/link]
And the last one is a Windsurfer by birdi. looks to be about the same age as the tercel. [link]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f263/neco1/PICT0089.jpg[/link]
So, does anyone know anything about these, or what they might be worth (would it be worth more assembled or dissassembled?)
i plan on building them all, and either sell them at that point or keep them for flying around.

I believe that the Sailaire is eligable for the Nostalgia event if you're into easy going competition. In any event it's a classic and well worth doing a nice build on it.

RE: Just picked up a few gliders...
i built a sailaire about 1998 - here's what i remember (traded it to a guy for another sailplane).
1) slow
2) stays up forever
3) nice handling for a large sailplane
4) lots of work to build (lots of moneykote)
5) because it was so big - alittle difficult to transport to the field
6) you'll need those spoilers to get it down and to land
7) launches fine on a heavy duty high start (i bought mine from hobby lobby)
good luck building it (we used to call it the pigaire - cause it was so big and slow)
finally, it's a real trip just to fly such a large sailplane

I'm interested in build tips for the Sailaire, as well. I have an untouched Sailaire kit in my stack of kits. Probably a winter project.
Can we start a new thread on the Sailaire. That'd be great.
Thanks, DAVE
