Mini Bird of Time help ??
I just bought a Mark's Models Mini Bird of Time kit. Everything was there except for the instruction book. I built one of these in the 80's but memory fails me now as to how the rear stab goes together to complete the flying tail.
Does anyone have a copy of the instructions I could buy or download? There are several other things that I've had to guess and by gosh and they work, but the tail end of the plane is throwing me for a loop.
I appreciate any help,
Jeff

Thanks for the reply SS.
If it is possible for you to scan and email, or post it that would be great. The whole booklet would be nice but that may be too much to ask. Just the section with the tail feathers would be a huge help.
Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,
Did you ever receive a copy of the plans for the Mini-BOT? I have an unopened kit that I can copy the instructions from if you still need them.

Hi Chris,
I never did find anyone with a copy of the instructions. I would appreciate it if you could send me one. I'm almost to the point of cutting the stab and making it an elevator out of total frustration.
Thanks again....

I'll send you .jpg scans of the book if that's OK. Are you on high speed internet and able to receive 1 to 2 megs of pix? I should have time later tonight.

RE: Mini Bird of Time help ??
I have a similar vintage kit in my collection - a "Bird of DST" (DST as in daylight savings time). It is actually a "short kit", with just the curved parts and plans.
Is there anyone out there that who has any experience with this model? Is it worth building and flying? (I would guess that it is about the same size as the Mini BOT, but I am not sure, as I am not very familiar with the Mini BOT.)
Thanks for any thoughts out there,
Arlen

Hi Arlen
It's been about 20 years since I've thrown a Mini BOT off a cliff on Camp Pendleton, but I do remember it flying very well, much more fun than my Gentle Lady. The Mini BOT has a 78 inch wingspan and if your "DST" kit is the same airplane I say go for it.

Thanks for the reply Rebsix. I just drug out the kit and took a look at the plans. The Bird of DST is a bit smaller than the Mini BOT at around a 58" span. It is an early HLG design circa 1987.
I've got a few other projects ahead of it (if I ever get to it even), and I am hoping that someone has had some personal experince with one to inspire me!

Your welcome Arlen, wish I could be more help.
I can say that with my problem I have all the help I need.
Beaverboy (Chris) and another fellow (Ed) that PM'd me, both sent copies of the information I needed to complete my BOT.
Thanks Guys,
Jeff

RE: Mini Bird of Time help ??
I have'nt found anyone that sell the MBOT kit. They have been out of production for quite some time. Once in a great while one will pop up on ebay like the one I found.
I did stumble across this web page a few months ago though. They sell a plane similar to the MBOT, it's $$pricey$$ at $108 for a glider kit, but if you just gotta have one I guess it's worth it.
Other than that, I don't know anywhere else to find one,
Hope this helps...

If you really want a mini BOT, check with Mark Miller of Isthmus Models. The only issue you might have is that he is somewhat in the process of moving to St. Louis. You can see the kit at www.isthmusmodels.com
Ray Hayes 2m-lil bird is a worthwhile kit. He uses top quality wood in his kits.
Both of these planes should fly very nicely. I'm building one of Ray's Oly III's now and also have started his Skybird kit. Both of these are 132" wingspans.
