Thermal glider
Hey
Does anyone know any plans of a glider that will catch any thermal and fly in a bit of wind with a wingspan of about 2m? I have an Alpha Runner (1.7m) and a Spirit (2m), but they dont seem to catch thermals any good. Flights only last about 5 min on a 100m launch.
Would going up to a 3m wingspan catch thermals alot better than a 2m?
Cheers

RE: Thermal glider
I have seen a Spirit (Spirit elite mind you) stay in the air for almost an hour. Granted, it did have a small motor in the nose, but the guy only used that to get it to altitude and to bring it in.

RE: Thermal glider
I have lots of wonderful thermal flights with my Spirt 2M.
As stated above, it is you, not the plane, that catches and works thermals. If you are getting 5 minute flights you are finding lift. Now, whether you are staying with it or not is another matter.
You can find suggestions on planes and on thermal hunting here:
