Candy:
See the thread "E-Flite Odyssey anybody fly them?" below, and you will see a number of comments on the Odyssey sold by Horizon Hobby Shop. As you will see I have one, and highly recommend it.

Airplane for new flyer
Candy, it sounds like you have your heart set on a powered model for your first plane. This might work out if you have some experienced help, but you might want to consider an unpowered sailplane to learn with. A simple 2 channel glider will fly more slowly than an electric due to its lower flying weight ( no heavy battery pack for the motor ) Examples of good first 2 or 3 channel gliders for a beginner are the Goldberg Gentle Lady ( you have to build it ), the Great Planes Spirit, you can either build it or there is an ARF version, or the Horizon Hobby Aspire 2 meter glider which is ARF. What you want is a 2 meter size glider with 600 or more square inches of wing area. If you must have an electric, the electric version of the Aspire with a 7 cell battery is probably a good bet. Whichever plane you wind up with, make sure to have an experienced flyer check it out for you and get you started. Also helpful would be a computer RC flight simulator such as Real Flight.
Good Luck!! Pete
