Gentle Lady
I'm a beginner at sailplanes and was looking at starting to build a gentle lady. I was wondering if there is anything a need to now regarding raping, building, electronics, or flying. Any informartion is helpful, even obvious stuff.

RE: Gentle Lady
They fly nice. I'd rearrainge the gear so all of it is ahead of the front former, which will reduce how much noseweight you carry.
I also used a carbon pushrod to actuate the rudder, and actually if I had to do it over I'd do both functions with carbon rods. You get VERY solid control movements.
All told a great flying plane. I brought mine out of retirement recently and I love it.

I'm using a hacker a20-20L with two 3c- 1350 ma lipo batteries. I am using the batteries for nose weight. also using a 10X6 Cam folding prop. Yes you can put light landing gear on it and use a slowfly solid prop. I suggest mounting an outrunner to the outside of the firewall. You will need less nose weight. Mine is inside and I had to add vents for cooling and an extra batttery for weight. Good luck and I know you will love it converted to electric power.

To add power to a GL, the easiest and the one that lets you restore it to glider mode easiest is with a pod mounted motor.
For surface throws, I use the outer most hole on the servo arm, and the same on the surface horn.

RE: Gentle Lady
If you were to put a folder on the pod, at about the same size blades as what's on those pods right now, would the blades jam on the pod? I'm just wondering why nobody ever uses folders on a pod. I think it was Hobby-Lobby that I saw a reverse set of folding blades. Would that help the drag situation even though it's in a pusher situation?

RE: Gentle Lady
Drag isn't all that big an issue with a GL.
Braking the prop works fine.
A folder might jam on the pod when unfolding.. so I don't use them with pods.
There's no need for a special prop in a pusher installation, with electric motors. Just change the rotation of the motor.
There is also an unfolding problem with pusher folders.
If one blade folds "over center", when power comes back up, it stays there. The other prop unfolds, and the motor is now -seriously- running out of balance!
It will damage the airplane.

RE: Gentle Lady
You can probably reduce that elevator throw by more than half. I think my elevator throw is about 1/4" either way on mine. Lots of rudder thow is good though.
