Default metal gears needed?

hi all,

do i need metal geared servo for the elevator of a 2.6m glider?(Discus)

my choice would be for either hs-56, hs-65 or hs-81 > i think any of them have enough power ,not sure tho the carbonite gears are strong enough.

since the servo is in the tail, the carbon g. servo is much lighter thus better choice IMO (if strong enough).

Thanks,
V.

Default RE: metal gears needed?

I used a JR-351 (metal gear) on my Gerasis 3.6 meter DG-800. I try to err on the side of durability on stuff I fly on the slope. I've had better-than-average luck with the HiTec HS-81 MG's (crossing fingers here) so I'd probably go with one of them.

I usually only use MG-servoes for flaps because they can get a real slap on landings.
Would have used Graupner DS 361 myself, but it is safe to put HS-81 or HS-85 on the elevator.
