Default Looking for a good radio setup.

Lately I've been thinking about picking up another sailplane (or two ) and was wondering about getting a new radio as well. I already have an older JR XP642 but was wondering what's a good choice these days? I've been out of the hobby a few years or so and now I want to get back into flying again. A friend of mine got me interested in RC boats recently so I picked up a Miss Vegas and a JR XS3 combo but I'm itching to get back into electric sailplanes as well.

Is the Spektrum DX6 DSM 6CH Park Flyer System a solid choice? Currently my sailplane line-up consists of a beat up Cermark Easy Electro (beyond repair) and a Dymond Crazee (decent shape). I'd like to get another sailplane though and will be staying with smaller, park flyer type planes (Mini/Nano Floh E?). I may mix it up some with a hotliner type eventually (always wanted a cool hotliner). I don't see me getting anything bigger than a 72" wingspan but you never know. [sm=bananahead.gif]

Thanks for any input.

Default RE: Looking for a good radio setup.

Hey, something else I've been considering that I didn't mention. Will I be OK on range with the Spektrum DX6 if I move on to something bigger later on down the road? I've also read here that there may be issues with carbon hulls. I'm wondering if I should just stick with my JR XP642 for now since I'll be sticking with smaller 'warmliner'/park flyer type planes in the immediate future. Later on if I do get something bigger (72"ish+), I'll get a new 2.4ghz radio. Hopefully by then, everything may be sorted out in terms of range, antenna location, etc and newer models may be available. The DX6 just looks like a very nice total package for the money.

Sorry for staring a new thread on this but I didn't notice the 2.4ghz thread when I posted my original new radio inquiry.

Thanks again for any input.

The park flyer radios aren't a good choice.

Thanks for the input,

Why? Is it because of the range issue? I like the included micro/sub micro components. Is there a non park flyer DX6 that I should look into or something else to consider?

What did you finally get for a new radio?
