Flying sites on Kauai?
Anyone know of anyone flying RC here on the Island of Kauai in Hawaii. Went exploring yesterday, looking for a field/slope and found several but as usual some type of obstacle. Too close to homes, powerlines, highways, etc.
Any help appreciated. ( Gliders, elect and non. )
Aloha, Les

Under the "RC Community" button near the top of the page, pull down "RC People and Places" then "Flying Fields"

RE: Flying sites on Kauai?
Aloha fellow rc'ers. Visiting Kauai?
Our club, radio control club of Kauai, (RCCK),finally got our website done after several months of working on it. And, it's up and running as of the 6th of March, 2018. The website is; rcflyerskauai.com http://www.rcflyerskauai.com Please put this in the address line/header on the top of your search engine. We now also have a club's email address: [email protected] Any questions please email us. Mahalo.
We have several pictures of some of our "fun flies" at our fields. We have a total of three County parks that can be used, and also we have written permission to fly at the Mana drag strip (Kauai Raceway park). Please come and visit and enjoy our site.
Pacific Missile Range (PMRF) The naval base facility, has also set aside an area for our club's members to fly, although this permission requires an "MWR" pass to enter the base.

The site is now working. I mistakenly put a period after the domain name, it has been eleminated and now the linc should work. I tried it this morning and it does work.

Wow Mike!! I am sooo jealous of you guys. We only have one real airfield here, and its a swampy marsh landfill. I need to get my butt out to Kauai... and everyone is smiling there, even after that beautiful Stearman went in. You guys look like you're really having a wonderful time there.

Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii.
Nitro, good question... Nah, we buy our nitro from Honolulu, thats the only place (hobbytat) in our state that sells nitro fuel, than they ship it by barge to Kauai, gets little expensive ($29.00 per gallon) but, gotta have it!! My stearman is the "super stearman (red and white).
We also have permission to fly at the "Pacific Missel range, they have set aside an aircraft/chopper parking area for us to fly from.
Anytime you come to our Island call so we all can go flying, weather permitting.
Mahalo and thank you for visiting our web site.
Sincerely, Mike.

RE: Flying sites on Kauai?
I visit Kauai regularly. Never found a flying site but last summer, pulled up next to a car loaded with R/C planes.
Seems like 20 or 25 years ago there was a hobby shop somewhere over around Nawiliwili. I almost bought a K&B 40 from them.
Man, this got me to thinking about places like Dukes Canoe Club, I'm ready to go back!

Aloha Ed.
That car with all the rc planes loaded up, would it be a black toyota truck with pvc pipe rack? ha,ha, might be mine you were looking at.
To answer your question in regards to a hobby shop in Nawiliwili, yes it's still there. Next time you're on Kauai, give us a call and maybe we all can go flying, weather permitting.
Mahalo, MIke.

Sounds great, Mike. I don't remember what kind of vehicle it was, but I do remember one of the airplanes was big and red.
I'll give you a shout next time I'm on the island.

Radio Control Club of Kauai new website
Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii.
Yes our original website was broken, host went bankrupt and let us hanging out in the wind, hahaha. However, we now have a new website: it is: www.rcflyerskauai.com as of the 6th of March, 2018, just put it in the address line. I was able to get some of our old funfly photos which are included in our new website. Please check it out. We also have a club's email, so, if you have any questions shoot us an email.
Sincerely, Mike webmaster/ safety officer.
