Check out some of the kits on
Skybench.com
There are lots around but I went with his Big Bird XL.
There is the Dynaflight Butterfly that is designed for a front mount glow engine also. It has been around forever and is a real GAS BAG or floater. A .10 to .25 will work great. the .32 might be ok also as it requires some nose wieght anyhow.

The butterfly is a good choice, however if you can find a Webra (really old plane, only ones i have seen have been built from plans from a 1988 magazine) The Webra kind of looks like a Sophisticated Lady but with a pod in the tail section/boom. t was designed for engines ranging from 049s to .46 Balsa wings ad you can build the fuse from either fiberglass or balsa. i will see if I can get you a copy of those plans.

I saw a Sterling Schweitzer 1-34 kit on sale in the swap meet area of one of the forums. I can go measure mine if you'd like, but I know it is 1/5 scale and believe the wingspan is 110 inches. .

You may want to rethink the fuel engine, electric is really the way to go with sailplanes.

RE: looking for a really big glider kit?
thanks for all the suggestions............... there are some nice kit on skybench but i need a company that has international shipping.
i could not find any information on any of the other kits mentioned.
basically i love to build and i have been building and flying giant scale 3D planes and i would like to get a glider kit that i can make into a long building project
so, bigger the kit the better. at this point i'm not too worried about how to power the glider and i'm sure it's something i can do latter.
thanks

Why not scratch build your own design? If there's a sailplane you like the looks of just copy that, but bigger. I once saw a 16' OLY II.

If you are looking for a really big long wood build glider project as you say, consider an old airtronics Sigitta XC about 172 inches (XC stands for cross counrty flyer). Sleek lines and designed to carry several pounds of weight (so it could handle a power system). The quality and sheer amount of "lumber" in this kit is something to behold! Although out of production you can find them on the resale market. I even have one in the basement.

None of the above mentioned is really "big"......
You want a big sailplane, you have to go scale :
Nemere from Schneider modell, austria : 5m ( 196 " )
Schleicher Ka7 from the same manufacturer, also 5 m
Not big enough ?
Look at this, Schleicher Ka6CR from cnc-modellbautechnik in Germany, 1:2.3 scale, 6.52 m ( 256" ) span......

A Glow Motor On A Sailplane???.............How Could You? As far as I'm concerned you might as well fly a regular glo-powered plane. But then again I'm a die-hard glider-guider. Best of luck

Actually some sailplanes do well on glowers... I have seen a sailplane which looks like an ASW 28 with a .32 in a tail mounted pod doing crazy high speed passes and extreme aerobatics. If you find this model id say youd be well satisfied if you like the smell of burning glow fuel...

Oh you can absolutely strap a motor on anything, but I bet you dont use them on your fantastic Pacific Ocean slopes. That 9 meter ventus flew great with a turbine, but then it is not a glider but a plane with a very clean profile and small induced drag
