FROG Diana
Recently test flew this plan built 36" span sailplane from the 1950's FROG range of kits. Great little performer, thinking about installing L/W single channel radio gear, to save some chasing!
Free plan and parts drawings here http://www.thestuarts.eclipse.co.uk/gliders.htm
I like the semi scale look, reminds me of an old Slingsby glider.

RE: FROG Diana
Single channel? What, are you going to use rudder only? It would be a much better idea to buy a two or three channel radio and use rudder and elevator so you can have more control. It looks like a nice plane for thermals...

Well Alex, it's only 36" span, don't want load down too much with radio, servos & batteries, just rudder control to keep it overhead hopefully.

RE: FROG Diana
Actually if you use micro servos and a small receiver, you will have no weight issues. Really, it is much safer to fly having elevator control... Post some pics of the flights...

RE: FROG Diana
Vaux,
2x HS-55 hitec servos, .28 oz. each
Hitec rx (micro 05S), .30 oz.
4.8v, 270mah battery pack, 1.6 oz
add 'em up for a whopping 2.46 oz.
NOW, how much nose weight have you got in it? You just may be adding nothing and getting 2-3 channels.
Think about it.

OK, I've got some servos lighter than the HS-55's and a micro receiver in a tiny Cox .020 powered Ken Willard Roaring 20, I'll rip 'em out and weigh all the components. Current nose weight is 2 1/2 4" nails buried in the nose block. I also have some thin carbon fibre rod somewhere for the pushrods.

RE: FROG Diana
I flight tested the R/C Diana recently, HiTec 555 receiver, 2 Tower Pro Micro servos, and the smallest battery pack I had from my old 20" span Cox .020 powered Roaring 20. Added about 2 ounces to the model's weight, I was able to remove the original nose weight which was 0.5 ounces.
Flies really well, and the R/C has removed the chasing factor.
Waiting for some hot weather now so I can hunt for a thermal. We live in hope.

RE: FROG Diana
Any update on the R/C Diana?
I started one in 2009, but the project stalled awaiting components availability. I recently got a Spektrum 6400L that I plan to installin it.
