Open class sailplane V-tail servos / Hybrid
Has anyone built an open class sailplane called the Hybrid ?
If so, did you mount the servos in the V-tail ?
If you did...what servos did you use that were small enough &, had sufficient torque (no nylon gears)...did the plane balance without excessive nose weight ?
Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Open class sailplane V-tail servos / Hybrid
Hi Robert
Are you talking about this Hybrid?
http://www.nesail.com/detail.php?productID=74
If so, I have a Hybrid Detect (Electric version) coming NIB this week. When I get it I'll let you know what I come up with. FWIW I think that the servos in your case should be mounted up front, not in the tail. Tail mounted servos are usually for use with EP planes where you are compensating for the motor weight. I have not actually seen one in person yet but my buddy that is sending mine said that even the EP version of the Hybrid has the servos up front. Shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll let you know what I discover when mine gets here.

RE: Open class sailplane V-tail servos / Hybrid
Sean,
Thanks for getting back with me on this.
Yes, that's the same sailplane. I got it from NESail (only took 4 months).
You're getting the Detect version ? Is that the one with 6 servos in the wings ?
You'll appreciate it when it arrives. The plane is a work of art.
Let me know what you think about servos in the V-tail after you get a good look at the set-up.

Robert
I had a Hybrid a few years ago. It was a good flyer although a little fragile if you catch a tip or land it hard. I used HS-85s plastic gears on the v-tails.
