Hello guys. I am new to this forum, but I am very active on others. Mainly RC car forums.I have many cars and know a lot about them, but gliders are something very new to me.

I need some help with a glider I was given for my birthday. Its a kit and the manual is breif to say the least! I was told it can be powered, and needs only a 2ch radio. That was it! Here are pictures of what I have. All of this looks very strange to me, and the only bits I know of are the wings and fuelslage!
























I hope someone can help me to build it and tell me whats missing or broken.

I'm not certain what you have, but the 5th photo is of heavy duty landing gear and wing mounting blocks.
Maybe it doesn't belong to this model if it is, indeed, a sailplane.

I have looked in the manual and it says its a Dragon models Fouga Magister if that helps?

A number of things in the pictures suggest your present isn't a glider.

Not to go into the long list, but to pick just a few:

Wing design MIGHT suggest a slope glider, but none of them have gear.

Fuselage looks like a scale jet trainer. It's pretty big and draggy for a scale glider, and none have huge jet intakes. And the nose piece looks designed to have a spinner in front of it.

OK, the Fouga Magister is a jet trainer. That's not a glider kit.

That kit is going to be a load of work. And there are a number of hurdles.

The thing might work ok as a slope glider. Matter of fact, it might make a good one. It'll be heavy enough to work strong slope winds for sure.

To make it into a power plane might be the best utilization. The cowl is so small, it's going to be a hassle to glow it. Lots of engine is going to hang out, plus the scale airplane has almost no ground clearance for a prop. Can't tell from your pic's what the model has for clearance, but that's a MAJOR issue to sort out. Going electric is one direction, but clearance is still an issue.

It certainly will NOT be a good trainer for you if you're new to flying.

Hey, Google found a mention of an 1989 British magazine with an article about your kit. It's about a "power" model of the Fouga by Dragon.

The balsa covered foam parts suggest that era. Gotta be the same.

a buddy had one of these back in my sloping days, highly aerobatic but did need a a min of 10-15kn to fly well. As noted not a lot of room for a motor but would fly ok electrified. I dont recall my buddies having landing gear either.

That's a good question.

But no matter how decent the D/F inside the sucker, look closely at the exhaust exits. Tiny, tiny and that's on the full scale bird. That fiberglass fuse almost didn't include flats where they are on the full size airplane.

As a sloper, those tip tanks would help in flight. Landing would be another thing. Long and pointed as they are, they'd be a major liability. They could hook stuff you couldn't imagine.

Been contemplating the edf issue, and found a set of plans for a very similar plane, unlabelled so no idea what, been discussing it with a mate. what we might do is build one with 2 edf in it, both in same tube but 1 reversed with a diffuser in between, could be an interesting exercise

Could you explain that a bit more? Two fans pointing at each other in one tube? Where will the air exit?

I meant spinning opposite diections, like a 2 stage compressor. have to reverse direction or the 2nd one will just cavitate
