This looks interesting. Been getting more interested in this discipline over the past year or so. A friend gave me a high start (manual) along with a few gliders to get me going. Last month I attended a sailplane event in Salem, CT and got to meet some great folks who are into soaring and gliding, although all of the airships were towed up. Well, most of them. I got some flights in with an Olympic ll I picked up last year. I flew a 6 meter glider for about 10 minutes (it was already up in the air). Later in the day I got a few minutes on the Hanger 9 Blanik. After the pilot landed it he handed me the transmitter and said, your doing the whole shebang next time up. So I did...the most nerve wracking RC experience yet. Got towed up to about 1200 feet, then flew for a while, then came in to land.

Loved it so much I called a buddy in NJ who had a stockpile of these aircraft and we're working on a deal for an ASK-21.

One of our club members lives in CT. He will be at the contest as will people from PA, NJ, RI, DE and we often get people from VA and MA, MD.

Register and come fly with us. Are you an AMA member?

Hi there,
Yes, and AMA member and actually I'll be in NY that weekend, just at the opposite end of the state. I'll keep an eye out for other similar events. Thanks for the invite!

Here is the weather report for the contest.

We are looking at clear skies with no rain in the forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Winds during contest hours

Friday - 9 going to 6 for practice
Saturday - 4 going to 9
Sunday - 2 going to 10

Doesn't get much better than that. If you have been waiting for the final weather report to register, there it is.

Looking forward to seeing you at the contest. I will open the field for practice around Noon on Friday.
