Zulu time!

Didn't see a thread here and thought I better start one. The Zulu is an molded EPO foam glider that is very different than anything you have seen.

What makes it different? It has a brand new flight surface that the designer calls Drooperons. Drooperons are a leading edge device that look similar to some other forms of leading edge devices like slats. A normal leading edge device is only deployed for low speed flight, and both wings will deploy at the sametime. But these are used for aerobatics as well as slow speed flight. They are also used for normal and inverted flight, not possible with a slat.

In a nutshell the drooperons allow for wild camber changes on the wing, and improved roll and pitch response. But don't run out and try to add these to an existing plane, it will not work. The areas of the flight surfaces (elevon to dropperon) and wing planform are part of the design. Zupair, the designer came up with this idea while stuck in traffic, and he started running the math and found he could get all of the forces to work in harmony, then he started building test gliders and refined the design more and more. The end result is the EPO Zulu you see today.

If you fly slope, you have got to have one of these! Check the many reviews online and the newest review in the AMA magazine and you will see glowing reports for the flight performance. This is a pilots plane. It is one of those rare planes that comes along that offers great flight performance and handling that helps you show off your piloting skills. You will be doing things you simply would not do with other panes. Best of all, when the lift gets really weak, the Zulu just keeps flying! Not just flying, but having fun! I swear she flies even better inverted in light wind.

The plane is cheap to buy, takes maybe 1 hour to install your radio gear, and you are off having fun! Enough of me flapping my jaw, here is a link and some videos:
